To the Forum members,

I purchase this engine from a dealer and I received the engine January 2017, added it to the Remote (handheld) and everything worked, except the smoke.

Sent it back to MTH, received it last week, almost 3 and a haft months later! It runs in conventional - perfectly, but I could not add it to the remote. I am running 5.0 software, I took all other engines off the track and then attempted to add the engine, but no luck. Then I tried tethering the remote to the TIU and it added - as a trolley? (picture below) I'm not sure. During this process, trying to add this engine to the remote, I received every error code I have ever seen, No engine on the track, Out of RF range, TIU Error, Engine Error.

OK, so finally it did add - no name and all functions work including the smoke! Yeah! But, speed control locks up at times and when a command is input into the remote to this Blue Comet/Trolley the same command simultaneously commands any other engine on the track with the same command. I tried both a feature and factory reset on this engine - no change. When I received the TIU error I deleted the TIU and re-added it, and added back the other 2 engines, no problems, but I was only able to add the Blue Comet, again, with no name. Any other ideas before I ship it back?

As a side note, we're running a number of MTH engines and all the tender couplers line-up a bit better than this one (pictured below). Am I being to picky?

Thank you for consideration,

Blake

I would try a factory reset from the remote weather you have the remote working or just plug In your 4 conductor phone cord into the remote and tiu. then try a factory reset otherwise try resetting with a z4000 mth  transformer using 1 bell and 5 whistles if I remember correctly that will do a conventional reset and may fix the engine issues!

best of luck email me with my profile if you need any other help

Alan
