I think the blunt end is to be formed by bending the extreme end from each side with a window and using the small separate piece with the window to complete the end. The vestibule end comes with the core kit. The blunt end is comprised of 3 pieces- 2 bent ends plus the small narrow center piece

I have built several of the USP kits and find them excellent. They do take effort but a nice model can be made. Just my humble opinion.

The Roof is almost paper thin, after reading the post about the Seaboard "Henderson" Pullman with the bubble distorted roof look, I am not sure if the core chassis will work, I guess I'll Haft too put it together first too see if it works Or not, but I have a backup plan if it doesn't work out, but I do appreciate your comments either way.

The USP car sides are great, but I suggest you find an old American Lightweight Car Company kit to use as the core. The roof from these kits fit the USP sides and you get a lot of usable parts in the kit like the car ends, underframe details, roof vents,  a lot of strip styrene, etc. These turn up on ebay frequently and they're pretty much all the same except for the sides (just make sure you purchase a kit for an 85 ft car). The USP sides fit great. This C&O coach uses the USP sides and ALCC parts for everything else:

At the very least you can purchase a roof from fellow forum member VGN64 who the current owner of ALCC.

I also purchased the USP kit for the C&O observation. I haven't started on it yet, but my plan was to cut the window sections for the blunt end from the main sides and build up the end. Once the sides are assembled to the floor, glue the end to sides and floor, reinforce the inside corners with some styrene, and then sand the outside corners down to round them off. I haven't figured out how to get the add on fluting to go around from the sides to the rear.

In any case these kits build up to make a nice car but expect to put a lot of time into it.

I would link to it but can't seem to get it right on my IPad.

Since we are talking about Passenger car parts, I just wanted to chime in here. Most of the things people said the need are already available. You can get ends---doors and roofs are in the works. all parts will work with USP products.  The roofs are being made and will be available in about 90 days. It is my understanding  they will be a one piece casting done by an outside vendor and sold by a different person.

Most people including myself, agree the core kit USP sells for O scale will not work because of scale it will buckle. This is why the roof is in the works.

Strange, because I can still get there and it opens up.    But, maybe not for long.
