I have a brand new Atlas 6910 turntable, but I understand that the new model 6999 has several important improvements. I know that the motor drive now has a cogged belt. I have heard something about improved larger or more bearings. Is the new motor assembly a drop-in replacement for the older motor? What other improvements have been made? Can I add them to my turntable? I have new MTH reproductions of the prewar 263E with PS3 Electronics. They will fit on the turntable with room to spare but are heavy. They probably weigh the same as a postwar 2360 GG-1. The deep wheel flanges will fit in the flangeways if I trim down the lugs that hold the two running rails in place. I may have to superglue those rails in place if I trim off the lugs. I currently have a floor layout until the attic gets insulated and sheetrocked so I cannot use a turntable with a pit {even though I also have a Diamond Scale Construction turntable on another postwar/modern roster bench work layout elsewhere. The floor layout is all prewar, even though I am running MTH prewar replicas with PS3}. Any advice and counsel would be greatly appreciated. I want to operate the turntable motor with an MTH AIU. I do have the Barry Broskowitz books that describe how to make the electrical connections. Regards, Paul
