Greetings all,

Just wondering.

Maybe this topic has been discussed here or elsewhere. Have any of the O scale model train manufacturers given any consideration to putting SD or micro SD media cards into their locomotives with sound software we could load on our computers and then transfer to the loco? We could then load and arrange sounds from a catalog within the software.

Thoughts?

None that I recall, although there is a thread somewhere about a poster here who reverse- engineered a MTH sound file and later wrote an application that could allow replacing the recorded sounds within. I think it started out as just playing the files on a PC.

I believe Mark describes it pretty well at the link above and in his thread here on the forum. He has done some pretty amazing things here.

Marks' program is different than the OPs request/suggestion, which also sounds like a great idea. Now if we could just convince MTH and Lionel...
