I use the Trainmaster 1034 for lighting on the layout.  Half are LEDs and half incandescent now.   The MTH single engine house has some LEDs and I installed a few incandescent grain of wheat.    I didn't know if I could install one of the GRJ modules and light strip  (  on the AC connection ) for better lighting since I use the variable switch at different times on the 1034.

What would be  a more robust solution John  ?

Right now the 4 little wheat bulbs with the OEM lights improve the lighting somewhat. After removing the old passenger car bulbs and sockets, I though about repurposing them for the engine house .  The LEDs  long life was an attractive option.

I didn't have any idea  if the variable on the 1034 would cause problems with the LEDs when I only used maybe half throttle  at times .

I still am looking forward to getting more of the lighting kits for Judy's P.E. passenger cars.  Only two  more to go on the Pennsy Madison's.

Well, it's 15 volts.  In order to use that and not over current the LED's, just stick about six diodes in series with the output, that will drop the voltage to around 12 volts.  In truth, you can probably use the 15 volts as I have observed that with 12V, a full 5-meter 300 LED string at 15 volts still doesn't draw 2 amps, that's what you should be seeing if the current to each LED was 20ma.

You can buy a connector and wire to that.

You can also lop off the connector and just connect to the wires on the brick.

PS.  I know we discussed your non attachment to MIT.......but I saw your new photo on your post.........did you work on Hueys in Dong Ha in 1969 ?

Nope, I was in the Navy from 1961-1966, I slipped away before the ugliness in Vietnam.
