Very Rare late evening run of Southern Pacific 2472

Great work Don. That last shot with the firebox glow was amazing and the shots from the engine are super steady. Great job on the mounting. The only negative I caught was some garbage in the shot of the train coming off the bridge. No fault of yours though.

Really nice video. One of my favorite engines. Any idea where the 2472 is now and what is it's status?

Still at the Niles Canyon location, waiting to be moved, as all the Golden Gate RR Museum equipment is being moved to another location.

Great shots Don! Love how hard that ole girl works going up that hill. What's the grade on that long telephoto shot? Also love the last shot as she pulls away and you can see the fire through the pan. 

Yes guys, she is in storage in Schellville Calif. in a fenced in area. Hopefully she is safe, but that's an area where lots of old engines and car once where and you can see from the pictures what happened to them. They do have cameras there so hopefully the 2472 will run again. Can't say I don't worry about her. Don

Just checked with the Golden Gate Railroad Museum. Last time I talked to them the UP was ready to move the 2472. Then they changed the rules and said they won't move anything with solid bearings. The engine has solid bearings. So there it sits in Niles. It will have to be trucked up to schellville. Many of their cars are already there but no 2472. Don
