Visited Weaver Models today.

Took my MTH Premier Proto-1 Cab Forward for a TMCC and EOB upgrade and did a little shopping while I was there. I purchased a MOW Flat Car, 3 car Military Flat Cars and 2 2packs of laser cut flat loads.

Born on date: 1-11-2012. They built all 4 cars while I waited Cool Talk about made to order! Thanks Gary, it was a neat experience watching you do the assembly.

I think that that's a great experience. I would visit my local McCoy train shop, and they would do things for me there too. A lot of their tooling and machines were great vintage.
Something that I don't quite understand about the Weaver Army flats is their built date. It's 1953. I surely would have preferred a WWII built date. It's a bit anachronistic that their crates will say "Sherman Tank Parts" on a 1953 flat. If they would put a WWII date on it it would still work for later consists. I did email them about this, and I received a courteous but useless reply. Mind you, I'm still a fan of theirs and just ordered two of their new composite gondolas (NP).

Word on the street is that it's being discussed...

I'd like to visit, but I'm something like 1500 miles away, and I've never
gotten back to York (one-time visit; frightening).

If they make the Mike, I'll use it as an excuse for a road trip and go pick it
up at Weaver when it arrives from The Mysterious East.

actually, the Army carried Sherman tanks in inventory until 1955.
