I have a santa fe tender #4198 that has a spot on the vc that above the spot it's to loud and below it's to low. Would any one know what info I need to
replace it--I tried the local lionel repair they said they couldn't replace
the part. I can replace it if I knew what to replace it with.

The engine is a LIONEL SANTA FE 2-8-4 #4193 --The tender is also #4193.
W/trainsounds
I don't know where my mind was with #4198 I guess my age is catching up.

any small 10K pot will work. check radio shack for them. I used to get the small blue ones when I added seperate volume controls to qsi boards.

If you have no luck at radio shack,Lionel sells replacement volume "pots" for trainsounds tenders in the parts section of their website. $3.50 ea.

I picked the pot up this AM (radio shack) Had a little problem with the size
It works better now than when it was new
