So I bought a Williams NYC U33C. It is painted all black with a white stripe on the frame and yellow railing. New York Central in block letters on the side. Unfortunately, NYC never bought any U33C locos. When NYC and PRR merged, the merger created the black Penn Central U33C from Penn locos. So now I am left with a loco that I can either change easily to a Penn Central, or get it repainted in the old Brunswick green Pennsylvania colors. Given the choice, if I have one, I'll take the latter. I added some pics so you can see what I have, and what I want. Does anyone know of a place where I can get a re-paint done on the shell?

Thanks in advance,

Dep

If you find a source for repainting, let me know. I have a couple of MTH passenger cars I want to have the road name and colors changed to New Haven. Posted  myself earlier in the week.

Gary, use the email address in my profile and I'll reply with a recommendation for a painter.

Well it appears, out of the suggestions, I have a two options. I went to Bachmann's website. While they DO sell shells for the U33C, unfortunately, they are OUT of PRR and Santa Fe. Those would have been my first choices. And some of the ones they do carry, the railroad never used the U33C...like the New Haven. A shame, that's a nice color scheme. They also don't have the Erie Lackawanna. That would have been an excellent choice, as I have quite a few of those. Western Pacific was another nice choice, but again, that railroad never used the U33C.

I think what I might do, is buy Brunswick Green paint from E-Bay and just repaint it in PRR colors myself. The PRR decals and lettering are available on E-Bay too. Doesn't have to be a fancy-dancy paint job like a Lionel or MTH. Just something that would be "correct" for what the loco is. Might even give it a "weathered" look.

I am a stiller for paint finishes and I can see a grainy repaint from a mile. And I commission a fair amount of my own fantasy custom work and my go to is John Mclaughlin reachable at 757-550-9864.

His finish matches or exceeds MTH factory finish. Thats how good he is. And like anybody that good he is backlogged but very reasonably priced for his caliber.

Ummm the PRR only ordered the U33C. However the delivery was after the merger so those models too were delivered in PC markings and black paint... Just like the ALCo C636!

Does she do custom decals too? I have a VO1000 and would like this. Yes, I know this is a DS-660 but it's as close as I can get.

I have a set of HO decals that potentially could be scanned and scaled-up.

Gilly, Christine will do the artwork and send the artwork to the decal printer.  She did just what you described for me (which also required a color change which she took care of) and I could not be more pleased.

Carl and Ben, THANK YOU. I bought a MTH PS2 ACL VO1000 years ago with hopes of getting it repainted as Chesapeake Western 662. Paint was easy, decals impossible. Next year the purple people eater will be getting a long awaited paint job.

Once it's painted, MTH will probably offer the Chesapeake Western livery I've been begging for.....
