I got this as a basket case. All wiring cut inside tank.  first question, how is the armature , which moves the spout, connected to the electromagnet. Mine is just hanging by a short green wire. Second question, where is the spring connected to reset the spout. Any help is appreciated. If I can fix this we can pass it on to the next generation. Thanks

The solenoid screws to the metal strip inside of the tank that the light bulb is also on. The spout returns with a small spring that goes from a hole on the "paddle" shaped arm to a similar small hole in the metal strip.  A stiff wire goes from the spout near the counterweight (through the tank) to the "paddle" arm, which is held in place only by the return spring and two slots that fit the solenoid case. (like a prewar AF e-unit). The spout is held in place by a cotter pin with its ends bent up.

The example I am looking at has:

a yellow wire to the light bulb "hot"

a black wire to the solenoid case (that also completes the light bulb circuit)

a thicker green wire to the solenoid "hot" (magnet wire from the coil)

As far as I know, my example is fully original.
