Hi all , just purchased a used Weaver mechanical reefer with sound. Overall the car is in pretty good shape nothing damaged visible. When I apply track power the little led light on the generator cycle as it should but the sounds are all static. I have a test track set up using a postwar zw for power. The noise does not even resemble a generator just Ear piercing static. I don’t know how to disassemble this car but I do hear some things clunking around inside , the seller assured me that it was tested before shipping. He offered me money off or a complete refund so I don’t think he’s really hiding anything but I would really like to get this car working.  Are there any suggestions on what it could be or what I could do to help find out again I don’t know how to take this car part.

Thanks again for your assistance

I was able to open the car up and play with the volume pod and at a much lower volume it sounds better , still really bad for today’s standards. If I wanted to replace the guts and just have generator sounds with the cycling lights is that a option ,is that even possible.

I recently bought two reefers secondhand which I did not expect to have sound. I want to say it was a pleasant surprise but I definitely need to turn the sound down for that to be true.
I took a look inside but I don't see an obvious "volume pod." Could you give me another hint?
