Umm Jim S, Weaver models never made  PRR ALCo C628. Weaver models did the PRR ALCo C630. They are two different locomotives.

Really like those MILW Ribbed Side cars.

Weaver took a big chance in making prototype-specific O scale freight cars near the end of its production life. The three produced in various prototypical paint and lettering schemes are among the very best Weaver ever made. The B&O Wagon M-53 top box and C-16 express cars, the Milwaukee Road 40' horizontal rib box car and the Pennsylvania H30 class covered hopper were icons of their parent railroads.  I also add a few more details to them such as uncoupling rods and for the B&O wagon-tops, Duryea underframe car-end center sill hangers.

I bought up all the Weaver stock of the wagontops, the MILW horiz rib, and H30 cars when weaver closed up shop.    Atlas has re-issued the wagon tops.  I still have some of the MILW cars...i was never in a hurry to get rid of them all..and the H30's...which actually have much more detail than most ppl know....I still have the PRR/PC/CR versions here, and a few of the NYC and  N&W ones.  They were never great sellers.  IDK why.   Afaik, Atlas has the tooling for the H30's....idk who has the tooling for the MILW cars....   IIRC..most of these cars, the bodies were made in china, and the underframes/trucks were added at the Weaver shop.

I talked to Joe about doing the PRR GRa gondola.  I think the car cme out really nicely, but again, it wasnt a big seller.  I wanted to do another special run of them

there are about 2000 weaver cars here.  most are regular run cars, going back about 30  years...but there are 100-200 special run cars.  If i ever get caught up with orders and everything else that needs to be done around here, I'll go thru the PS-1's at least, and get more of them up on the web.   right now, the web says 400 or so weaver cars are up there, including att the weaver cars, not just the box cars...

I have a couple of those H30s and the ribbed side, and I'm really happy with them.  Unfortunately, the pre-1950 schemes like you have are harder to find (my layout is set in 1949).

Beth, If I ever get those Atlas (Weaver) Wagon Tops I ordered March 2020 I will be really happy.  Wonder if Atlas will ever produce them again?  Really miss Weaver.

I always had a soft spot for commemorative / fundraising cars Weaver did. They were always very well decorated. Here are a couple from near my hometown:

The C-628 and C-630 were pretty similar engines - here's what Weaver made in each (there was also an undecorated version available, at least of the C-628):

When I was at Weaver for their going-out-of-business sale, I was discussing the H30's with someone there (might have been Joe Hayter) who had a theory that people looked at the H30's and assumed that they were not scale because they are smaller than a lot of other scale cars, but the prototype was not a large car and the Weaver cars actually are scale.  They are gorgeous models, and I liked them so much that I tried to get all the PRR H30's they made.  Just need one more to complete my collection (G24002 Oxide Red #254651 if anyone has one for sale...).

Just picked up this beautiful Lackawanna covered hopper from Beth at the Public Delivery Track. It’s hard to find Lackawanna cars anywhere, and I think I’ll try my hand at lightly weathering it. The dispatcher has come out of his tower to give his approval!

Did you know that you can adjust the volume on those cars?  I turned mine down to just barely audible when I'm close to them.  Much more realistic and I do like the effect.

How about remote control for the sound on your Weaver car, including volume and on/off?  My new 4-channel remote does the trick.  Here's a new Lionel Flat Spot car that I modified for remote control.  The Weaver would work the same way.

AGHRMatt, Thank you for posting pictures of some of your Weaver cars. That picture of a sand car is a very old Weaver car. Either you or someone else had to put that car together. You're most welcome. Yes, the sand car was a kit as were the gray CNW covered hoppers. I'll post more pics tonight, but I'll have to go through the thread so as not to post duplicates. Interestingly enough, I had more of the PS4427 covered hoppers, but gave them to a young O Gauge modeler who (believe it or not) had never heard of Weaver cars a few years ago. Several other ACF's from my collection are now "club cars" at AGHR for members to use.

Per Jim's request, here are a few more (I didn't post the ones that others have posted) :

I have all three road numbers of this outside-braced box car in yellow, then stumbled across a green one. These were originally done by Crown Model Products and were later sold under Weaver.

Here's the green one from Crown Model Products (forgive the focus, but this was the eBay thumbnail)

I believe these stock cars also started out with Crown as well (can't recall)

These are definitely Weaver/Quality Craft

The mechanical reefers were sold with or without sound (mine are without). The ones with sound are being posted on eBay at a pretty high price. ITT Products sells a sound board available with mechanical reefer sounds. They're at GL (ittproducts.com) I was able to obtain some 36" wheels and extended coupler boxes and converted all of them to 2-rail. A word of advice: If running on a track with multiple trains, run with the refrigerator unit foward. One of mine got rear-ended and the refrigeration end got damaged pretty badly.

Matt, Those are some fine looking freight cars. It would be hard to pick a favorite. I like them all. Matt, thank you for posting pictures of these freight cars.

I got the 2 of the CNW C-628's #6700 & 6701. I tried for the hat trick with 6703 but someone beat me to it. Still hoping that it will show up for sale at the same price I paid for the first two.

Here's a  new member of my roster, just got it today.

Weaver Union Pacific Express box. Will make a great addition to my CNW/CMO express train.
