Weaver Models has three Soo Line 50' Plug-Door Box car schemes to make.

I've got a couple of Weaver 50' boxcars in the white w/red door scheme like your 2nd version pic. They have the corrugated doors though. Another one they didn't do is the 50' in boxcar red with white lettering - the car to the left in your last pic. I painted and lettered my own, and it is a pain to decal over those ribs!

BTW, Weaver can not make the corrugated door anymore - the die is gone.

That's cool. I would buy if they had separately applied bits like grab irons ladders and stirrups. If the car was a one-piece plastic molding, then I would not be interested as it would stand out like a sore thumb with my Lionel rolling stock.

I've not really checked out Weaver prodcuts before, so I don't know how they are made. Most of it looks to have modled-in details. I love the Lionel scale stuff cause of their tough metal add-on parts, but they are now priced too high. I hate the Atlas cars cause the ones I have are all covered in tiny fragile plastic pieces that break very easily. I will sell them soon.

PS: I personally don't care for the SOO Speed lettering (first four pics).

The Lionel and Weaver Exterior-Braced Modern 50' Box Cars both have molded on details.

If you are looking for a Soo Line Plug-Door Box Car with seperate parts added on then the only options are the Lionel 57' Mechanical Refrigerator and the MTH Premier High-Cube 50' Plug-Door Box Car.

The last corrugated door box cars that the Soo Line acquired were the PS-1 50' Box Cars in the 1960-1961 window, as far I can find.

The Soo Line box cars built after 1961 were all plug-door.

Yup, just saying what Weaver had already done. Actually I could probably retrofit their current plug doors on those cars that I have.

The Weaver Models 6-Post Plug-Door Box Car is the mass-produced model that is closest in appearance.

HO Scale and N Scale now have exact models of the Soo Line and Great Northern 7-Post Box Cars. If an O Scale exact model were to be made it would have been made by now.

There is also a more recent announcement for the Fox Valley HO Scale Plug-Door Boxcars in other schemes that Weaver Models could use on the O Scale Plug-Door 50' Box car.
