Lee   Weaver made 8 variations of that caboose  4 in Lackawanna and 4 in Erie Lackawanna    Its all brass  Came out the same year as the Pocono   Of course I bought all 8   They were weathered at Wevaer    This is my last one as I sold off the other 7   They brought in some good dollars on ebay  LOL

Thank you for posting this caboose I really like the Lackawanna line I was going to ask you if you weathered it or if Weaver did I still like the looks of caboose

Thanks for posting this Neat looking Concept just the other day when I was at the UP I seen two flat cars one had a load of steel on it was over hanging and they had  the overhang on the front of the other flat car was pretty neat  there was about five in a row like this.

I have a pile of the Reading 2-bay coal cars, from back when they were 20 to 25 bucks a piece.  Original trucks work fine as long as the track work is half decent.  Here we have Weaver three hoppers on the FCC (Filing Cabinet Central) behind an MTH camelback with a Lionel monopoly caboose.

I just bought a  Reading hopper just like that but it was in the older Weaver box with no trucks hope to get some pics of them soon

Thought you all might appreciate this one.  Weaver did a special run of their VO-1000 for the PP&L Actitivies Committee about a 15 years ago or so.  It looks good with the other PP&L rolling stock including the caboose posted by others within this string.  The caboose was also a special run for the committee.  They also did a run of 3 oil tankers.   I am told that PP&L never used them for oil, but rather filled them with cement as a counterweight?  But this is a neat little engine.  I have many other pieces of Weaver rolling stock (note the Reading and D&H in the background),  and really miss their products.

Since getting into the hobby, I always Viewed Weaver and observed from others that Weaver was detail, different, and quality(excluding the certain plastic pieces).  Nonetheless, Weaver trains always seemed to stand out at a train shop I visit(when they had more of them).  Their engines are really neat, sadly don’t own one myself. The rolling stock, however, has that mystique about it. It’s detailed enough on its own to look great, as evidenced in many of the pictures posted, and it lends itself nicely to weathering. 

Unfortunately, I re-entered the hobby for the first time since I was a kid 3 years after Weaver closed. However, I’ve got some rolling stock. Ive changed the trucks out on some. Sorry for no scenic poses, layout has been torn down and is about to be rebuilt

First 2 came w/o a box. Got them at the train shop I referenced earlier

One of my favorites(mainly because of the old box) Con-Rail PS-2 Covered Hopper. Bought this guy at Henning’s in the used section 890847EF-62E6-4A0B-9F18-3B9253D735F3

finally, the one I use most that trails behind my Amtrak Dash engines-Amtrak Express baggage car which came in the box behind it. Of course, the issue is that it’s very light so I find ways to weigh it down as it’s in front of 4-6 passenger cars. Sometimes I’ll put the MTH car behind the engine and let this one head up the end- which still looks cool.56FC1A57-7912-410F-AF00-D44AC35E9521

That's a nice looking loco, along with the Black Diamond. I had the honor of showing the John Wilkes at the TCA Museum manufacturers' presentation, filling in for Paul Fischer. I met Joe Hayter's daughter and husband halfway between my house and Northumberland to pick it up along with the other pieces for the presentation.

Ummmm Clem, please clarify your post. Are you saying only 5 4 bay high sided hoppers were made or 5 4 bay high sided hoppers decorated for the Union Pacific were made?

I have five of these in this paint scheme and have been looking for over 5 years. a forum member sold me one years ago, then just acquired five more last fall thanks to another member giving me a heads up. Think I have the only 12 UP  built !   Please prove me wrong!!!   I'm still looking for more but none have surfaced yet.  Lionel was suppose to bring these out years ago (Lionscale) ,but after the fifth postponement I gave up on them.

I posted earlier my FEF pulling my 49er Weaver Passenger Cars (above), but I forgot to put that I had videos of my 49er Pacific that I had JDS LTD upgrade to Proto 2.0 (which I did since they had a 49er sound set).  I do have it running 4 chuffs per rev rather than the 2ish in the videos.  So I have the engine, all 4 Express Boxcars, the 5 car passenger set plus the 2 car Dome set which is hard to find (the FEF video has everything but 1 Express Boxcar which I later got).  Here is the 49er engine (Bob's video of the John Wilkes reminded me I had vidoes of it from JTS):

Here are some more of my Weaver freight cars.  I weathered all the open top hoppers.  The N&W covered hopper is partially eclipsed by the Shay.  The bottom photo is of an open hopper I purchased off e bay ( as is ... due to fire damage .. resulting in melted ends of the car. ) for $5.00.  I wanted the trucks/couplers because Weaver had gone out of business.  When I received the car, I thought why not weather it ... and create a "damaged freight car scene" for photographic purposes before harvesting the trucks.  IMG_4060IMG_0050IMG_9375IMG_0295IMG_9309IMG_6348

This would make a good flat car load. Weaver did this several years ago with a 3 bay shell upside down on a flat car, minus the bulged ends and bent bottom, which by the way, add more realism.
