I've been hearing different things about Friday's sale. Some people say that they ran out of trucks for their rolling stock, while others say that they got (or are getting) a shipment. Does anyone know? If they don't have them, are they readily available? Thanks.

Nobody seems to know anything for sure about this sale. I would have to drive for 6hrs to get there. I will be on vacation and would like to go but I don't think I will chance a big disappointment. It would be nice to hear from Weaver about what will be available. I don't think that is too much to ask for people with long drives to get there.

I figure it will probably take me 2 hours to get there, and I feel the same way. Since I only have o-42 curves and mainly run steam, I can't see me being interested in any engines, so that leaves rolling stock. Rolling stock doesn't roll very well without wheels lol!

i asked at a local train shop,a well known weaver dealer , about trucks and they about laughed at me. by now ,all your going to see is some tables and shelves.-Jim

From what I understand, Weaver has been using MTH to produce the trucks for them, wonder what's going to happen with that tooling, since it's different than what MTH uses for their own rolling stock.

Joe told me when I was down a few weeks ago that he was waiting on a shipment of trucks. I wanted to pick up twenty pair for a forum member when I was there. He said he would call me if they came in. I was supposed to call him the other day, but I forgot, and I forgot again today. I am so busy at work that I just don't think about it. I'm still debating on going down on Friday. I'll try to remember to call him tomorrow.

Hope they come in soon. I ordered quite a few, a month ago, to replace the plastic ones that have been in service for quite awhile and starting to show their age.

It would be nice if mth pick up the trucks for weaver cars. Thats my main problem something happen to the trucks won't be able to get replacements.

Without the Weaver trucks the Weaver body shells would be difficult to attach other manufactures trucks.

I had two cars on order with Weaver that were waiting for trucks.  Received UPS notice that cars will arrive today.  Trucks must of arrived.

Joe

Ebay and other secondary marketplace options have lots of weaver rolling stock for sale without their trucks.  It almost appears as if the trucks are worth more than the rolling stock bodies.

Especially the latest die-cast Hi-Rail trucks. Also, I have found that the Weaver 2-Rail plain bearing freight car trucks are EXCELLENT for use on Atlas O 3-Rail track.

I live a half hour from the WEAVER plant and I will be there on Friday morning.  I am looking for metal trucks too.  Hopefully they will be there?

I talked to Joe this morning, and he did receive an order of Bettendorf trucks, how many I don't know. I have an order for 20 pair. Weaver will also be open on Saturday until one PM.

MTH supplies the trucks for Weaver, so they will most likely still be available.

I just received a UPS shipping notice that the trucks I ordered from Weaver have been shipped! I had ordered a bunch about a month ago.

How would THAT work? If MTH is the "subcontractor" for supplying Weaver Hi-Rail and 2-Rail scale trucks, then who or how would another dealer contract with MTH ro sell those products?

I just repaired an Atlas car and the trucks screw up from the bottom. I just bored out the hole a bit and used a flat head #4 screw and the trucks were better than what Atlas delivered. You can do same for Weaver cars

OK do you think Mike will be an opportunist and produce the parts for Weaver cars or not do so and create a better market to buy MTH rolling stock.??

"Whoever takes over Weaver" - now that's funny!

Don't know who, but as for the "how", perhaps using one of these?

Doug, Reed's has some trucks for sale and they sell Couplers, I think.

Doug I ordered 6 freight cars the last week Weaver was open and received them promptly. But I was told the previous week to not send a check because after the posted closing date there would be no one still at Weaver to wait on a check to clear.Hope this helps.

Certainly changes future secondary market purchases for me.  If it doesn't have the metal trucks to start,  I will no longer buy it appears...........

A note about Weaver trucks, plastic side frames and metal wheels.   We had several cars, used on the Fort Pitt High Rail layout with these trucks.  Easiest, but costly, correction was to replace the trucks with Weaver metal frame/metal wheel trucks.

We did a correction on many of the plastic frame/metal wheel trucks by simply changing the placement of the wheels on the axles. (A wider spacing), corrected the de-railing problem.

Pretty nice stuff available for small dollars. IMO.   Mike CT
