Happy Friday!

Busy week on the layout. Made a bunch more changes. Decided to get a few more realistic buildings & replace the Plasticville. New signals & crossing signals arrived as well. The farm is being relocated at request of my cow/horse crazy kids to a new spot w/ a new Woodland Scenics barn & more grazing area for the cows.

While not a big fan of 60's Lionel, I do have a few items from that decade. 230 C&O FA-2 leads 1961 set 1643 through the rural countryside

Decided to keep the 132 station ( albeit in repainted form) as I needed something to tie in w/ PW Lionel. It was relocated close to it's original spot, but I added a spur on the rear for REA shipments. With the layout of the station, it works well. The new signals stand guard looking north.

Built a small hill to act as a scenic block between the 2 tracks

Added an MTH farm house in the back corner. Having a farm house was on my list of must haves.

With the land left vacant from the farm move, urban development quickly moved in & added a road & country post office. The grain bin & corn field will stay put however.

2046 gets a highball as she pulls out of the station w/ a set of 2400 series Pullmans.

My new kitten Beto loves hanging out when I'm working on the layout & running the trains

My last train photo of 2018 was a good one! A pair of ex Conrail EMDs lead a short local past Jersey Pike in Chattanooga, TN on the last day of 2018.

My layout AKA "Jasper's Rock" turned 20 years old in December 2018 (Dec 1998 to Dec 2018). Here are some early shots from 1999. I no longer have these locos / cars and today this area of the layout looks nothing like it does in these photos.

I have enjoyed watching your videos of your layout. The trains look real good and the layout makes forget your looking at a model train layout.

Just about finished up with the rebuild on a rusty and crusty 2330 today with the arrival of new pantographs and insulators.  It's just waiting on a new horn since the original one no longer functions.  It's definitely not a pristine example, but I think it's a neat piece of Postwar history.

looks great to me!

Our pair of Lionel Penn Central U33C's showed up earlier this week. My son Steven got them unpacked and into service along with a Conrail U30C from a few years ago. Here the trio is heading westbound towards Altoona as they slam across the grade crossing at Anderson Road along the heart of the former PRR Middle Division. You can bet that except for shortly after delivery from GE, these things never were this clean in real life!

Nice!

I made 2 versions a few years ago, tired of waiting and also found a rare Weaver.

Such a common scheme that took many years for MTH to finally offer. Very odd. Now you need the other SOO scheme. MTH just cant shake using those ugly superior doors on everything.

Nice Neal. I think we are the few that like the PC. On another note: Did you ever think of using frost spray on parts of your background to simulate fog? It might push the scene further back and add some more interest. Just a thought.

Thank you.  I really like the patina that it's obtained over the years that it sat waiting for its next life.

I really enjoy seeing all the photos of the layouts you post every week.

I don't care to have to skip over all the Real Train photos. There is a Real Trains link that always had a weekly thread for these. When I want to see  real  trains I go there.

Sorry for the rant.

Forest

That's a seriously ridiculous rant.. Love the real trains photos posted here each week. Seriously? You want to chase off Christopher and Brian? Some of the best $+>[ on the thread.  🤣

Very nice Arnold!  I like how you began with the stillness of early Sunday morning as you panned along with the camera .... then the quick crescendo of the fast freight breaks the silence then quickly fades into silence again .... just as in real life.  Well done!

Hi AMC Dave: Thanks for checking out my photos and leaving a great tip about “Cleaver Models”. I had a chance to search for these models on YouTube and watched several videos.

I even exchanged a message with one of these YT creators about Cleaver Models, White Castle is on my model railroad bucket list for 2019.
