Weekend Photo Fun 1-20-22-??

Finally found a few “hard to find” pieces of rolling stock I’ve been after.

Thanks for starting weekend photo fun.  Finally got my PRR S2 out of storage.

Thanks Scott for kicking us off early this week!  Winter weather up on the Mountain Division of the FSJR is challenging the MOW men and machines.  Both the rotary and flanger are busy keeping the mainline and sidings open.   Have a wonderful and safe weekend everyone!  

One of the tasks for these MOW men is to clear snow out from switches.

Here are some photos of my 64x14 foot toy train Christmas village at our Railway museum Christmas train ride event.

Under the white snowy mountain the train goes across a X crossing does a loop before coming out, kids always wondered why the train would go into the tunnel and take so long to come out the other side. 13 trains total running lots of fun.

I needed a model of Nassau Tower to control the interlocking at Princeton Junction.  Since I did not want to take the time right now to scratchbuild a faithful model of the real thing. I took this MTH tower:

And covered it with brick sheet and concrete trim to look more like the real thing

I also added some interior walls and other details

This week, I have a few random shots of Port Royal after playing around with my cell phone camera over the past few months, including a B&W photo of the station as in appeared in the 1957 after it had been closed about a decade earlier:

John - phenomenal job!!  I love the all the modifications you made especially the interior walls.

Putting the trains out on the wall has allowed to to take out a special set of mine, given to me my an Orthopedic Surgeon colleague.

A 1961 Sears uncatalogued set # 9674 pulled by a new-for-1961 616 Sante Fe Switcher.

Lionel would make up "special sets" for their big retailers and change them a little from the regular catalog sets. The Retailer could then market them as a better value (extra car, etc) for the same or lower price than the regular catalog set it is similar to.......

This is the set that the Sears uncatalogued set mimics....from the 1961 catalog....set 2570.

Look at the changes.....the Power Shovel car instead of the Crane Car. An Allis Chalmers car in lieu of the D&M Hopper.......and, the addition of the highly desirable Boat Transport car.

I'm sure that most of us PostWar kids remember this catalog page......

Love the parade of Postwar!

I got the ATSF "safety stripe" switcher for Christmas in '62 I think it was. Still have it and it runs like new. Amazing.

Btw, I see the D&H 1991 Service Station Set on the shelf below. So colorful and one of my favorites.

Thanks everyone for the likes, and thanks Patrick W for the comment, and extra thanks to Andre who noticed the painted ceiling.   "Finishing" the interior made a big difference in the model.

By the way, that's a picture of Rhonda Fleming on the left hand interior wall
