It's time for WEEKEND PHOTO FUN!!

Open House this Weekend at the Roanoke Valley Model Railroad Club. We will be there this Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 12-4 and have 8 layouts on display including mine in the video below. We are located in the basement of the Virginia Museum of Transportation (entrance is in the back). There is no charge for visiting the club.

Earlier this week I set up the Christmas layout at the Virginia Museum of Transportation.

The Tri-Polar ( Polar Express Bi-Polar) makes an advanced appearance at Kodiak Junction to ready the way for the Polar Express Berkshire Christmas Eve run.  The Bi-Polar is hauling coal, reindeer food, presents and Hot Chocolate and Cookies!

Really nice!

Shameless self-promotion, but graphics I prepared for marketing of Sunset P42s.  The line drawings were prepared in AutoCAD while I used Photoshop for the graphics work.  I have three more to wrap up before I move onto researching ALCo FAs.  This is more or less how I am enjoying my hobby these days as my personal trains have taken a bit of a backseat.  Great photos everyone!

What a difference a week makes.  Last week-end our club layout was set-up at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach (Pungo) VA beneath the wing of a WWII USN PBY in its usual configuration:  43' X 16'.

TOGA 11.26 Layout under PBY wing

This Saturday (and the next two Saturdays), we are running at Lee Hall Depot, a handsomely restored 1881 C&O station in north Newport News VA in a drastically reduced configuration of 33' X 14' in the depot's freight room.  While the layout's modular construction anticipated such modifications, this was a first, so to make it work required the cutting of many pieces of GarGraves phantom tinplate track for bridge pieces to connect the modules' three mainlines.

In an homage to the C&O depot's heritage, members brought plenty of C&O/CSX power and rolling stock.

And a 4 engined CSX train of empties was spotted outside the back door early in the day.

Be safe.

Peter, it looks great! Who did the module with the Davenhar building? I believe that's an old Harry Hieke kit. Hoping to see you soon.

That's Jerry's module.....and, you are correct about the building's origin.....it's a Harry Heike model and Jerry purchased it directly from him.....

Here are a few more pictures (taken at the SMV).....I think Jerry did a nice job on the scene.....

He did an amazing job! Next time I see him, I am going to have to inquire to see if he has any other Harry buildings that he'd be willing to part with. I wish Harry still made them.  A few years back, I bought/built one of his buildings.
