New York Central 2-8-0 #960 is a Lionel Legacy model (2231120, MSRP $749.99). The model’s prototype was a Union Pacific/Southern Pacific design. Although it is a good-looking model and runs well, it differs significantly from the real NYC #960 with respect to valve gear, steam and sand domes, bell location, and the engineer’s-side walkway. The real #960 ran on the NYC’s Michigan Central subsidiary and was built by Alco-Brooks in 1909 with 63-inch drivers and 23-by-32 cylinders. It was scrapped in 1954. Similar NYC 2-8-0s had a tractive effort of about 45,000 pounds.

The videos show it in operation on my 12’-by-8’ model railroad.

I posted in an earlier Weekend Photo Fun how I took two MTH "What Were you Inking"  buildings:

Cut them apart

And ended up with this

But I really did not like the MTH windows, as the frames and muntins are too thick (That is characteristic of the breed):

  So I substituted Grandt line windows.  These required a bit of cutting, new glass and new sills.

But in my opinion it looks a whole lot better

As you can see I added a few details.  Here is the night shot:

Yorktown is the name of my high school. The Fleur de Lis is its symbol

This is a photo of a brass City of Los Angeles diesel set that was for sale.  I recall that it was priced at around $3,500.  I don't recall the manufacturer.

The Yosemite Short Line On30 sectional layout was on display.  It is truly awesome.  I posted photos on my other post and I am reposting them here.  Unfortunately, this may be one of the YSL's last shows after 20 years.  Both the layout's sections and its owners are getting old.  The owners no longer have the energy to maintain or show the layout.  Its future is uncertain.
