Boston & Maine Ten-Wheeler #2074 is a recently released Lionel Legacy model. The prototype for this engine is the New York Central Class F-12 4-6-0, so my B&M version is not prototypical. However, I consider this engine to have classic looks and Lionel’s model is well executed, except for the smokebox color, so I bought it. The model has excellent steam sounds and is not too large for my small model railroad and its O-54 curves.

Ten-Wheelers were mostly built between 1890 and 1915 although the PRR put its large G5s engine into service beginning in 1923. They were quickly supplanted by 4-6-2 Pacific-type locomotives due to the rapid introduction of heavy steel passenger cars that replaced wood construction at the beginning of the 20th Century.

Video on my 12’-by-8’ O-72 model railroad. I built the bridges from kits by Miami Valley Products.

Very fine photos everyone!  Scott thanks for starting this thread and keeping it going each week!  Happy Father's Day to all you dads!

Here are my photos of the fun kind for this fine weekend!   This weekend it's all about the B&O!

Lunch time!! "5 more minutes to go guys!" ... Cliff yells as he slides open the door on the work caboose.  Ernie & Herbert play checkers as their four legged friend, Wallingford, lays next to the barrel.   Quincy is about to bite in to a yummy ham sandwich and Orville leans back with a drink ( don't know what kind? ) in his hand.  IMG_0847

After a long day's work the SW9 is topped off with fuel and sand.  IMG_0381

This is the 3rd of the temp layouts that I built earlier this year for 2 reasons:

1.  Bored still due to COVID restrictions.
2. Having too many items that I got enjoyment from seeing on the layout to be able to use all of them on my Christmas Layout = I had to pick and choose each year which to use.
These temp layouts allowed for me to feature one holiday and use ALL pieces.

I'm not real sure why I'm showing these  but just felt like it.

Shows small things can be done to slightly improve the look of those Great Miller animated signs when on the layout.  Some before and after images.

this one is my favorite because I did all of the research that Chris needed in order to simulate the real Westinghouse sign that was mounted on a building on Pittsburgh's North Side (that's right, no North 'Shore' for this guy )

I couldn't find a great picture of the sign on the building though

Happy Father's Day to all that it applies to, some great pics for this weekend.  Melgar, I have that same locomotive only in the Texas & Pacific livery.  It's a great little engine, I also have a set of T & P heavy weights to run behind it, I'm not overly thrilled with its paint scheme as I'm not sure it's really prototypical.  It pulls really well, not a bad buy at all.  I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Here’s my attempt to get an arial view of my 9’ X 9’ display layout that is in the living space of my home. Always tricky to get an overall picture that does not include a sofa or two, a mirror on the wall or even the kitchen sink. “Little Stevie” (the corner baby) usually does manage to get in the picture though:

I love it! Little Stevie makes it perfect!

Spotted this on Melgar's layout and had to get one. I rode a NY&LB to the beach from South Amboy…

in the search for that car, I stumbled upon this one - and being a Raritan River fan absolutely had to have it…

Not bad for Weaver cars…

DaveP,

You have sharp eyes to have spotted it on my layout, although it's usually parked up front. I'm surprised that you were able to find one, although it's slightly different than mine, which is New York & Long Branch Railroad - CNJ #25624.

Happy Father's Day to all the Father's(I have to wait for Uncle's Day). Well, I got that Weaver Canadian Pacific Royal Hudson to have a bit of a dead end run on the carpet today, no sounds though. I was hoping to hear something, so I guess there is a blown connection somewhere that I will not venture to try to even look at since I am not good at that sort of thing. I had hoped to have the 38088 Mogul running today, but for some reason it won't run in command(don't know the ID to it as it isn't ID#1). Works conventional though. Once that gets figured out I will hopefully get it running, until then, enjoy a few of the Weaver Canadian Pacific Royal Hudson going back and forth.

Yesterday, I visited the recently renovated and opened Lee Hall Depot in Newport News, VA.  Built in 1881 by the C&O when its line was extended from Richmond to provide a deep water port for the export of coal, the station was one of several along the right of way.  Very nice restoration with period fixtures and artifacts.  (Free admission with reserved tickets.)

One of the main movers in the project was also a fan of 3-rail trains and some were on display.

Well here we go. After messaging Pat(harmonyards) about getting the Weaver a little carpet practice and not being able to get the Mogul moving, he(Pat) talked me through programming it. So, here are "night" photos of 38088 New York Central 1924 making the run around the Christmas Tree Layout on its first official run as mine. I'll have to get some regular lighted photos maybe next week.PXL_20210621_012553340PXL_20210621_012554887
