I have spent most of this week in Dallas, since I have to pack up to leave first thing I am going to start Weekend Photo Fun early.

Last Saturday I took these photos at the Rail Yard Hobby Shop in Roanoke. The Rail Yard changes their layout twice a year.

Great photos guys!  Here's some more photo fun for this weekend beginning with a shipment of cotton via the RF&P.  Next up is a tribute to the N&W J 611 in honor of her successful move to Stassburg RR on Wednesday,  next is the lumber camp on the Mountain Division,  a shot of switchers at the ready, a shot of Patsburg's Westend neighborhood, and the parting shot is of a Pullman diner.  Have a wonderful weekend everyone! IMG_4647IMG_4649IMG_4650IMG_4669IMG_4693IMG_4779IMG_4781IMG_4797IMG_4828IMG_4830IMG_4834IMG_4901IMG_4928IMG_4940IMG_5021

got around to completing and placing on my home layout my kit-bashed Budweiser grain silos and office building. The office building was an extra purchased from the NJ Hi-Railers and detailing the interiors was fun, the beer mugs were made from dowels painted yellow and tipped with white. The large beer bottle is resin cast and made by Harry Hieke with a Budweiser label obtained from the internet.

I'm FINALLY completing "the Gap". This is a section of scenery in the middle of about 175' linear feet of finished layout that is the last piece of scenery in this stretch of railroad to be completed. I love working with laminated pink foam which can be precisely shaped to recreate both native land and engineered land forms. Here are a few views of my progress...

Happy Friday!

Didn't get a ton done this week, as I was sick for a few days & the kids went back to school this week.

I added a painted 145 gateman by the farm crossing for some action, put up the frame for the backdrop & added the framing around the edge of the layout.

Next up will be to give the board frame a coat of paint. Just have to decide what color. (gray like the wall or white like trim)

It was business as usual back in October 2018 as NS Dash-9 9736 & ex Conrail SD60M 5504 hustle 25Z under the PRR signals in Cresson. Fast forward 6 months later - the PRR signals & former CR SD60 series would be only a memory.

With 611 on her way to Strasburg this week, here's a look back on her last trip from Spencer to Roanoke.

Hey Ron,

These look great! I didn't know Warren had a hobby shop. I thought the closest one to Youngstown was in Boardman. Such a rich history of steel in this area of the country.

Dave, a fellow forum member posted a pic of the ore car back in 2014.  I contacted him for info.  My last six-years in Ohio I worked in Warren.  I recalled this hobby shop which as I recall had the same name as the little strip plaza located in.  The info on shipping box is ASC on E. Market street.  This was a special production car by Lionel for a "Catholic War Vets" fund.

Since YS&T represented home had to have it.  Just like the set of YS&T slag cars Lionel made back in 2004.

Hey Ron,

The only thing I came up with is BG Train and Hobby. Is that it? I went to college in that area and did my student teaching in Warren and never knew about this place. Had I known this place existed it would've made my experience a lot more interesting. Back then it was only phone books and word of mouth, no google search.

The new MTH Premier O scale SOO LINE bulkhead flat cars with wood loads arrived in the past week.

The graphics look like authentic SOO LINE graphics. The background panel for A SOO LINE Colormark CAR is a very dark green, instead of a medium green as I was hoping to get.

The cut wood load is very secure. I can not move it with my bare hands.

Finally got some great flat cars for the Soo Line.

Dohertynj, I've got to ask who's playing on your baseball field? I see Abe Stark on the bottom of the score board and remember the ice rink in Coney Island being named after him.  Never knew who he ws so I figured he was some famous Brooklynite.

Brooklyn vs the reds in an imaginary stadium with a pittsburgh city backdrop.
