Last Saturday our division of the NMRA traveled to the Warthers museum near Sugarcreek Ohio.  The carvings that this man created were amazing.

My summer tourist work load has subsided and I am now able to return to working on my neglected projects. This has sat dormant for almost three months and will be my first completion since the layoff. Converting an Atlas GP into a "chop nose" unit of which the MEC had quite a few of. Matt Hogan, Old Goat, used a Red Caboose donor shell to make the lower hood and cab. The modification required the removal of the front motor.

My offering this weekend are some of the shots I took this week for you guys here on OGR who are gifted with your hands and like crafting and possessing unique buildings on your layout. Also, I had AG/Andre in mind, most particularly, to offer these as ideas for his next possible buildings (to consider).

The principal building featured among these photos is on the main drag through Homer, NY. I've included the rear of the building as well as the building's left wall's old advertisement still painted onto the brick.

Homer, NY's buildings have a tremendous amount of character and beauty, in my opinion, as does Cortland, right next to Homer on Rt.11, so I have taken several photos to share with you as we go along, if you please.

Second building from the left in this cityscape is our focus...

Everyone have a great weekend!!

Didn't do much this week on the layout - just haven't found the time of late. We did take out some of the classics to run though

Even though we consider this 'modern era' hard to believe this engine is 45 years old!

Was able to add some new motive power this week -

Thought the Genset would be great to do some work in my expanded freight yard. I let her out on the main for a bit to work some of the industries

Couple of ex CR units joined the roster - D8-40C & SD40-2

Here's the SD40-2 meeting another ex CR unit - SD45-2 1700 on the main

Here's a few real train pics I posted this week -
NS 337 rolls through Salisbury on the ex Southern main line. The NKP heritage unit can be seen sitting in old yard w/ 76M- 6/7/15

NS Dash-9 9946 leads Jersey bound 20K through Hummelstown, PA on the Harrisburg Line - 5/10/15

NS SD90MAC 7290 (ex UP 3515/UP 8062) leading 751 through Lexington, NC on the Danville District - 7/1/15

followed by northbound Amtrak 80-

Ex Conrail SD70 2573 leads NS 36Q nortbound through Thomasville, NC on the Danville District - 5/30/15

NS 18N heads east on the ex Reading main in Hummelstown, PA w/ Dash-9 9564 on the point - 5/15/15

NS SD70ACE 1158 leads westbound 21T through Mexico, PA on the Pittsburgh Line - 5/9/15

A 2014 Christmas Layout memory

The plateau area:

My nephew is a captain for a national carrier so I often throw up this awful representation of an airport kinda in his honor:

I saw these facades of "haunted mansions" at Home depot two days ago for less than $15 and I intend to go back and get one or two. They have lighting that flickers and are narrow enough to use as a backdrop.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

Stretching the legs of a few Vision Line pieces in my collection:

I kind of like the GEVO / BSA / UP Flag combo!  The sound of these in unison is just fantastic!

Enjoy!

Gary,

I saw those at Home depot as well and bought all three for the VMT layout.

It appears each Home Depot got 3 of these (one of each building). If anyone wants these, don't wait very long.

Good one Art.

Beautiful track-work and highway overpass.

With the closure of Erickson Textile, 32 locals were out of work. But thanks to the local business townspeople, a new tenant was found. "Three Pipes Match Co."  They are moving their equipment in, much of it new. Plus provide jobs for 50 people, an increase of 18. Selling points were. next to tracks and major roads.

Train meet at Knoebles Amusement Park earlier this summer. A MTC G-16 pulls a loaded train past the S-16 powered train I am on. A third D-16 powered train is behind me in the station taking on another load of happy riders. Pretty much SOP on weekends in the summer.

I found this D-16 and observation car at Steamtown during Rail Fest 2 weeks ago. Very nice DL&W inspired paint job!

Speaking of the DL&W, here is the real McCoy. F3A 664 basks in the sun and admiration of visitors at Steamtown’s Rail Fest.

Walt, only because the dog isn't panting are you able to see they are models!

Thanks, just an open question viewed a few episodes with some interesting right hand drive cars. Wasn't sure if they were still making new ones.

Is there a model of Foyle's car available?

Current video of my layout below. I've run out of room again...some say I'm crazy, I disagree. unnamed

Great, great modeling skills. You are a master-craftsman, sir! (And I would imagine, pretty dang cool.)

Walt, Bobby D and Frank,   Thank you guys for your very kind comments. Its been a lot of fun building, operating and photographing this layout. I still have a lot more work to do so stay tuned.

Sort of funny you mentioned the dog in that one picture. He sort of reminds me of the old character ALF from 80's TV show. Really need to find a more realistic one. lol
