We start Weekend Photo Fun early once again...

I have been getting ready for Christmas by painting a tinplate baggage car.

I have two set of unpainted passenger cars left and I can't seem to decide how to paint them.

I tripled headed my 10E's last week.

This week, i have some pictures of Altoona...

First, here's a panoramic view of the turntable and front of the roundhouse in East Altoona:

Now here's one of the far end of the diesel servicing facility with the coaling tower and ash hoist for the steam engines in the background:

And finally, here's the end of a train pulling out of the yard past the yard throat control tower. Look closely, and you can see the tower operator inside the fully detailed interior:

Pictures and video show my model of Peter Witt Brooklyn Streetcar #8454 by Williams/Bachmann running on my 10’-by-5’ layout. The car is running at 8.3 volts/0.1 amps at about 19 scale-miles-per-hour in the video. The model is based on the prototype Baltimore Peter Witt streetcar but closely resembles the actual Brooklyn #8454, which was one of the last operable Peter Witt cars in Brooklyn.

I enjoy running this model although my layout doesn’t look anything like Brooklyn.

@MELGAR

Thanks for the memories! I’m pretty sure I rode those cars on McDonald Avenue in Brooklyn on the way to my Grand Parents. They also ran down Coney Island Avenue from Brighton Beach to the North Western corner of Prospect Park. I have that car and have not run it because the curves are too narrow on my Streets track. You’ve inspired me to run it on my local track!

The Virginia Train Collectors annual picnic was a home of one of its members. He opened his fabulous prewar collection to all of us for viewing. I will put it in a few posts, so as not to overload the loading........it was truly AMAZING!

Hi everyone.  We just got back from 2+ weeks in the Adirondacks and then New Hampshire.  Lots of train related venues up there, especially in NH.  I will post more later, but today we will look at the few cars park in Bartlett, NH.

While I have been to this area many times before, I never noticed that the big building that was there was an old 4-stall roundhouse.  The turntable is long gone, but the building looks in pretty good shape.  It used to belong to the Maine Central.

Take care.

Two Canadian National SD60 diesel engine-electric motor locomotives were used for a local freight train on Friday.

They must have needed to pick-up a large number of empty freight cars on the South Bend Subdivision in Michigan and Indiana on Friday.

The crew needed to stop at IMERYS Harborlite perlite processing plant to pick-up an empty ACF CENTER FLOW 4650 cu ft, 3-bay covered hopper and set out a full ACF CENTER FLOW covered hopper on the spur track.

Doesn't Mother Nature do a great job of weathering? LOL

Well, I needed a little run session. I've been having rotten luck with my car, too much money being spent, and more issues then my late Uncle would tolerate. So, still waiting on news on my car, but needed #3000 to smoke me out. Ain't nothing like a great New York Central Mohawk to make me forget about my problems.

Gotta love the smoke.
