The G&O is supposed to host its annual Dinosaurs at the Depot train show this weekend.  The show is still scheduled as of Thursday evening but may be cancelled.  This is a very popular and fun show.  Here are a few photos from previous Dinosaurs at the Depot train shows.  NH Joe

Making Improvements to the Train Room’s Bathroom 🚂

We have a new hand towel that depicts a steam locomotive. Adam age 6 and Noah age 5, think it looks like one of grandpa’s Lionel locomotives.

We have a new Epson ET-2720 tankless color printer. This printer is being used to print some new photos for the bathroom wall on Kodak premium glossy paper.

“Wait” - There is more!

Running Lionel locomotives with the Universal Remote & LionChief Plus Remote.

Grandpa took us out for lunch at McDonalds. After lunch he drove us sixty miles to our house and we both took a nap in our car seats.

Last week there was a thread comparing PostWar and Modern Era accessories.....it was great and there was a lot of good information....I'm an accessory nut....I just love the animation, even on my HiRail detailed layout....the 8' newsboy just keeps swinging his newspapers to sell.

PostWar and Modern Era, Lionel, MTH and K-Line.....I even have a Colber Gateman stored away.Love then all!

I'm trying to get the gap completed between two long stretches of finished scenery. The area is a model of the Middle Division where it crosses Tuscarora Creek on the east side of Port Royal. It is the deepest scenic section on the layout and required three hatches. The third was inspired by Forum participant John Sethian who suggested and included a motorized hatch on his superb PRR layout. So here are pictures of mine.

First, here is the scene (still under construction) with the hatch down (closed):

It is mid-November, 1947, and the Friendship Train is passing through Harrisburg.  It will soon stop at the Harrisburg station next to the Freedom Train.  This photographer hopes to gets some photos of them together for next week.

The BP60 Centipede is Lionel, all the cars are MTH.  The BP60 was new when Pennsy management choose it to pull the Friendship Train.  Luckily it had no problems.

This week, three members of BNSF Railway's Positive Train Control (PTC) team flew into Amarillo on railroad business and visited the High Plains Division of the Panhandle and Santa Fe Railway.  From left to right are Yours Truly; Bob Brendza, Director of Technology, Operations; Billy Harsh, Manager of PTC Operations; and my son, Phillip, who is System Director, PTC Operations.  They came over and ran trains for a couple of hours, and we all had a good time.  I have known Bob Brendza for 40 years, when he was an Operator, then a Dispatcher, then several other positions.  Now my son directly reports to him.  Who would have guessed?  The trio headed back down to the BNSF yard, where they boarded a train made up of five business cars for an inspection trip from Amarillo to Kansas City.

All the activity upstairs at the layout was too much for nosy Thomas Cat to bear. so he hopped up on the layout and came walking down Santa Fe Avenue, in the town of Caprock.  Miss Mila Swindle our Librarian, was walking home on Railroad Street, turned the corner onto Santa Fe, and fainted on the sidewalk at the sight of the gigantic cat coming her way.  Thomas sniffed her, and the chill of his cold nose revived her.  She ran up the street, screaming.  Thomas felt it might be prudent to lie down and think that puzzling scenario over.

Several of you asked me for pictures or video overview of my Central Division layout. Just finished block and dwarf signals recently and cleaned up layout a bit so you guys can look to get the idea. The layout size is 12’x34’ around the walls with lift out at west end. Only three towns named Marshalltown, Gladbrook and Beaman on that layout area where I grew up in Iowa. It have double main lines, secondary and branch lines. Enjoy!Patrick

What great photos & videos you guys did this weekend. I didn't get a chance to get around doing stuff myself this weekend, I did get out to my LTS Friday afternoon after almost 2 hours in the food market. I hope to post some stuff this coming week, see what it brings.

Update - It poured rain all weekend so the Dinosaurs at the Depot show on the G&O was rained out.  This was the first rain that the SF Bay Area has had in over a month.  California needs the rain so we are glad to get it.  The HO layout was open all weekend.  We got only 20 visitors for our show.  A normal show weekend, even with rain, draws about 350 people.  So until next year:
