A common black Robilt 0-4-0. Restored by a friend these locomotives were released after Ron Tichner sold the company to his clockwork mechanism supplier Rytime. They were easier and more cost effective to manufacture but lost some of the charisma of the previous 2-4-0. More commonly seen in black with V.R decals other variants included blue,  green and red and possibly yellow?. Other state railway decals featured including S.A.R and NSWGR but interestingly there doesn’t appear to have been any Q.R despite it being the 3rd biggest state railway and Robilt been offered in all the reputable toy shops, news agencies, chemists and hardware stores...

Photos of American Flyer 92 Switch Tower variations

The first two are fairly common examples...

However, the next one is relatively uncommon.  I have seen only a handful of the ones with the tan base and mast

The 92 Switch Tower was followed by the 214 Switch Tower, which was lighted.

This variation is somewhat unusual, as it has transparent window inserts, which are riveted to the sides of the building (note rivets).

There is also the later version, which uses the late building lithograph.

Very late to this weeks party ... some lovely tin folks!

A fair while ago I got a great deal on a Hornby No2 LNER tender, but sadly this tender is only really correct for a couple of loco's that arent always easy to find in my budget range !

However not having the right loco to pair it with was a bit of a problem , luckily that was fixed this weekend with the sourcing of a restored repaint Hornby Yorkshire No.2 Special ... I am hoping the lighter green is due to the sellers camera flash lol!

The loco is still in the UK presently but it shouldnt be too long before they unite !

Interesting! That loco sold at Vectis on Friday 27th last month, WITH a correct tender, also repainted in the same, possibly incorrect shade of green. Curious selling strategy, selling a matching, repainted loco and tender separately. Also interesting to note just how low the price of a thing like a repainted Hornby Yorkshire and tender have dropped, even a rough example in need of complete repainting used to command a serious price, more than I could afford!wp_ss_20191007_0001

Yep thats the very same I think he stole it at the Auction myself , or because it was a repaint people just didnt want it . I have been dealing with the guy who bought it for quite some time now and he has the strategy of seling them seperate as it does bring usually a higher total $$$ result than buying together .Usually it bugs me , but this time as I had the correct tender already it was an opportunity rather than a "bugger! "

I wish I could buy direct from Vectis ( well I can but their shipping here to Australia is horrendous)

With the guy in the UK I can amalgamate purchases and pay less than 50Β£ for 5 Kilos of stuff! , Dont forget that Vectis also charges 25-30% buyers premium, so in reality the end figure was closer to 120Β£ ... I figured out in the price I eventually paid for the loco that the UK fellow made just a few Β£'s profit on the loco from me and was willing to sell the tender at pure profit , which was fine by me !

Like you Mark I was very surprised by the selling price , it appears to be a very nicely painted unit and although repaint does certainly effect the value its still listed on the Dutch Hornby price guide @ 285Β£ ! for a repaint ... I am actually almost tempted to grab the matching tender as well once finances are sorted if it doesnt get in a bidding war

I know if I were to buy one locally here even at a ratty condition it would be double or triple what I got in this deal even without a tender So I am pretty happy !

( I dont ever collect to resell , its all just part of the "estate" that my poor executor will have to sort out lol So money per se ( investment anyway) is not a motivating force, but yeah , like everyone I love a bargain! )

I think I got one , I never actually thought I would come across a loco I could afford for the tender I had
