I have been lucky this week to find a nice LIONEL 116 station in the color I prefer. Finding one in France is really exceptional, first one I see here and shipping from USA is definitely too high I had to take it. Some paint scratches and a small touch up but all in all not too bad for a piece from 1935.

It seems also that using Britains and Johillco from GB from the same time period  makes a good match in size.

Lovely find there Daniel ! And how lucky to find it local too.

Sadly this week my finds arent local but come from my friend in The Netherlands again who is keeping an eye out for me ... One find I was not even aware of until a few weeks ago , so this week when he said he could pass one on to me I was a very happy chappy ... I saw a Distler 1180 Locomotive on ePay for the first time , and sadly it did not have a mechanism , just the body and some wheels in a homemade chassis ... and I was tempted , then I thought .. what are the odds of ever finding a mechanism for it ? Pretty close to zero I would expect ...

Then comes the email from my friend !!! Whooo Hooo!

So yep I now have a prewar JDN ( Distler) 1180 loco !

Also he came up with a very nice Konrad Dressler KD72040 Locomotive in Silver ... I aldready have a black one and tender in te collection , but I think the Silver looks Fab !

Picked up some BaxToy in a British lot this week. The C321 Loco is battery-operated.

Was bidding on the Brimtoy 2509 Golden Eagle in this lot so I am happy with the extra pieces.

2509 from asst. won

Have yet to identify this "pretty pullman" that was also part of the lot. I assume it is also Brimtoy as it looks very similar to the 1st 3rd dining coach.

Following up on last week's discussion of the fate of Distler under the Nazi regime I'm offering  photos of the Kraus Fandor version of the Bing double bogie Mitropas.  Kraus ended up with the Bing stampings for these beautiful cars.   As for Ernest Voelk:  There is an excellent discussion of the  takeover of Trix in Tony Mathewman's The History of Trix pp. 25-31.  Interestingly  Ernest Voelk also ended up the Chairman of German Trix. Mathewmann comments: "Although the hands of Ernest Voelk were tied by the harsh regulations and laws of the Nazi regime, he was very helpful in many ways in trying to get the best deal for the previous owners of the company (Stephan Bing and H. Oppenheim) under very difficult circumstances." Krauss Fandor MitropaKrauss Fandor Mitropa 2

Daniel, Congratulations! That is also my favorite Lionel station! I believe the catalog number is 114. Lionel made three different versions in this green and cream color scheme, the smaller single 112 (no lights) and 113 (with lights,) and the 114 larger double station with lights. Dates of production were 1931-1934.  The 115 and 116 came later in the red and cream color scheme. Your example is a beauty!

I recently purchased these two beautiful stations (134 and 136), in near mint condition, from a forum member and so glad that I did. These were on my hunt list for the canceled April York and I couldn’t wait for the uncertain October York to satisfy my need. They are in fantastic condition with great cartons. These are just what I was looking for to add to my prewar table.

OH No @Jim O'C  I cost you an extra 20£ !!! ( yep that was me at the end lol )

I am glad you got it tho , I was thinking of upping the ante, but postage costs were horrendous ( for me anyway)

Excellent score on a pretty uncommon set !

Funnily enough we came at it from different directions , as I have several versions of the 2509 Golden Eagle  Brimtoy , but mainly wanted the Baxtoy LOL!

I also think the same thing guys. We have lost some very good contributions and speaking tinplate without pictures is not easy and fun. Of course we are on a private forum, offered graciously by good peoples and we do not have to discuss the rules, i think it is a question of policy.

For me, know I am more active on Facebook groups, there is some really nice ones as Hornby, tinplatetrains, standard gauge, and a lot more. I am not a fan of Facebook and discussions are less easy but there is moderators on many groups and it is fine.

Daniel

There are also too many photo threads all going on at the same time and place. Look at the photo threads going on over the weekend

Weekend Tinplate

Weekend Photo Fun

Front end Friday

Switcher Saturday

Photo Chain Game

Picture A Day

This topic and the one I start every week gets lost under Photo Albums and among all the other photo noise(no offense meant to the other photo threads). I am getting to the point of saying why bother with it. Anyone notice Sunday Scenic Showcase has been left in the scenery forum?

Well guys to Scotts and others points I'm not thrilled that we had to be moved out of our respective category's but it's not my sand box either!     One of the reasons I use emojis is not just to be cute but if everyone checks the right hand column of the page of categories it's easy to find what your looking for and just click on it. 🚂  Thank you for everyone's support!
