What can you do with an old 3R LIONEL caboose?
The answer is, with a few parts & a little skill, you can bring them almost into the semi-scale world. Here are two (2) photos of what we have done with that same SP style LIONEL caboose and a few parts and some decals from our web site pages.

The trouble with those old Lionel cabooses, is: unless you severely kitbash or replace
the body shell, they still LOOK like Lionel cabooses. Now if they have leaf spring
caboose trucks on them, you can pull the body shell off, discard it, and, like Brother
Love, build a less recognizable body. The chassis can probably be extended (now this
is what I would do, or attempt, if I had an old Lionel caboose, which, because of that familiarity, I have always carefully avoided...so I have not tried it, but if confronted with one....

I think it is an improvement but then I may be easier to please than some.
Looks very nice to me. Do you sell them like this? I'd be interested in LIRR or just the decals.
