A little late in the day but Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Seeing that we usually go down to Florida for Thanksgiving week this time we didn't and it is only the two of us we are just going to go to a restaurant. That made it nice for me because I don't have to cook so I had some time this morning and afternoon to get a few small things done. I got the edge of the table cut, finally made up the extension for the Sauerkraut factory and tacked a 2X4 to the stairs for extra support. Now I can start laying out the foam for covering that end of the table. Pics. Hope they come out. This morning my computer went dark for a second and when it came back on everything was bigger.................Paul

Apologies for the extreme telephoto, but when you have a museum consisting of two large rooms, and one of the large rooms is having the rotted floor replaced with a concrete slab, well...
On the way home, I saw some ditch lights down the track and investigated. While the Arkansas and Missouri is no longer "All Alco, All The Time", it's still a dandy spot to catch the odd Century or two plying their trade...
In this case, it's a feed train for George's Chickens...

The Arkansas and Missouri! The engines still have the same livery as in the '90s when I railfanned when visiting my in-laws when they lived in Fort Smith!! Thank you for the photographs, Mitch!

Well Mark, my Milwaukee Road 261 and the 21" K-line cars are still packed away. The UP 3985 is gathering dust on the layout awaiting the new Lionel UP excursion set (and the theater car). In lieu of model pics, I have some of the real thing. It's where I get my inspiration.

This was Tammy's first train ride shortly after we met.
I spent much of that trip in the vestibule hanging out the window, collecting cinders in my hair. I had wanted to use this picture as my forum avatar, but Rich nixed it twice before I bought a clue.
3985 has come to town a few times.
The Empress even came to town, so I bought the Weaver model.

I ran a train on the new layout!! OK....it was a Redbird subway set on the small oval that will become the subway under my city.....and the track is not even mounted yet....just wanted to say I ran trains by Thanksgiving!!! Onward!

AMCDave, that's great news, being able to run trains anytime is a plus!
Brian, I am thinking if you got Izzy a little or large blanket to lay one between inspections she would be much happier!
she has 2, or had 2 of them out here....
then....
she decided to demo one of then while I was tearing down part of the layout.....
I think she was in a turkey coma last night.....

Nice project - Well done! Really like scratch building. I am in the process of finishing the top of my mountain which will include an HO scene simulating a taconite (iron ore pellet) plant. This project is stretching my imagination and scratch building ability.

Dave, that's the fun part about scratch building! Figuring out how you are going to get everything to work together, taking the time to measure twice LOL! Then when its all done you can look at it and say to your self I really built that!

Coach Joe, its all plexi glass , superglue, and whatever color paint some one wants. I will enclose 2 pictures of what I did for me, then gave one to Cabinet Bob (GREAT GUY). The Yellow UP I gave to Bob, and I kept the BNSF for myself!

Mike did you post pics of the yellow one before? I seem to remember seeing a post on a similar build before and the capacity decals look familiar.
Looking at the autumn vegetation during a walk in the State park near my house, I found and collected several O scale size "trees" for my layout. This got my 6 year old granddaughter excited. We teamed up using spray glue and Woodland Scenics materials to add greenery to the trees go make them look good. Then, my granddaughter decided where we should "plant the trees" and I carried out her orders using a drill and wood glue.

By the way, my favorite in my last post is the first (top) photo. If you look closely, you can see a guy with his pants down sitting on the toilet in the outhouse under one of the trees we made today.
The long walk in the fresh air in the park is healthy, the arts and crafts project making the trees with my granddaughter is priceless.

I spackled the screw holes and seam on this little section of backdrop, to get ready for priming and painting. I also added my engine track for the Midway Intermodal facility.
If you look closely, I drew a red line and a red circle. The line shows where I moved the helix turnout control panel from up high to tucked into the lower deck. Then I raised the Prescott panel, and got it secured to the top of the benchwork. Now both panels are in their final locations, making room for backdrop and fascia. Once JMRI is up and running both panels will be removed. I also spent a couple hours pulling all my tie wraps tight on all the wires in this area, and generally tidying up my wires.
Patrick and I put this platform up last year. A turntable and roundhouse go up here, otherwise the middle of the helix is a big waste of space. Beside, I've had both pieces laying around for the last 25 years. More leftovers.
The turntable is a 24" Bowser.
The roundhouse is an old Korber. One of the side walls had broken off, so I glued it back together. It's not perfect, but nobody is going to get close to it anyway.
I took the sheet of buffalo board that will go on top of the plywood, and proceeded to try and remember high school geometry.
Armed with my tape measure, my trusty straight edge / compass ( a 6' piece of perforated metal strap) and a black Sharpie, I laid out the center of the turntable and the proper position for the roundhouse.
Then I cut out the opening. The hole in the plywood deck will be round.
There is a very good chance that all of the backdrop, fascia, benchwork and track will be done by the end of the year!
Workin' on the railroad like this sure is hard work. Looks like you are making great progress on your masterpiece! You must get a great feeling of accomplishment when you are done for the day.

Anyways mother nature finally started letting loose with the leaves so I spent the morning and part of the afternoon blowing and raking. I finally called it quits and needed to unwind, train related. I got Masonite cut and installed at the end of the table by the stairs. Got a coat of white on it and when it is dry I'll add some blue. That whole side by the stairs will be a large hill. I can start on that tomorrow after I get back from a train show in Parma Ohio. Pics...............Paul

Knocked a Alka Seltzer billboard off the top of a building white reaching to dust off a 1:43 car.
Got my 364 log loader up and running. It takes power so I have it on a 135 PowerHouse/PowerMaster combo on conventional.

Nothing on the layout so far. Went to a train show this morning and came out with a nice tank car. Got home and hauled leaves to the street this afternoon. I hope to start cutting pieces of foam for the hill later tonight. Pic.......Paul

Got pig tails on the MPC rotary beacon, and two RMT light towers. Did that because they have those crazy clips on the bottom.
I brought all the Xmas trains out from under the layout, unboxed them all, cleared the tracks of all the non Xmas trains and put them away, and set out the Christmas trains. Doesn’t sound like much, but it took a few hours.
But, its for the children.
