Lee D. Thanks! The decals are very nice! Give's me the idea to redo some cars so I don't have to buy any more in my BN/BNSF Road name! LOL YA RIGHT!

Hi John R. the bridge is in the up position as it is the only way into the train room. I will take a short video so you can see it in action and post it later!

Lee, I don't think there will be any op sessions as I am the only one up here that I know of that are into trains! But you never know, I cant just let it go around and around!

Paul, I am glad you got a laugh! I did too when I opened up the box I got from Cabinet Bob from the Forum!

Bob, Thanks! It's really easy to keep going with all the inspiration here! That and I don't want to fall behind everyone here, so I just keep plugging away!

Brian, you must have had a Rio Grand weekend! Very cool! Thanks for the great pictures to start the week!

This weekend I worked on placing seated figures into a RailKing Passenger Car.

This is a 4 car set and I was only able to finish one car. Ran out of seated figures. As soon as I receive my ordered seated figures I will go back to working on this project.

Had to drive the wife to a doctor's apointment so I got a late start. She got upset when I told her to take Uber LOL just kidding guys. After I vacummed up the gorge I glue the back bridge in place. I had to cut some cork to go inside the bridge and then painted it black. When that dries I can glue then inside the bridge and lay down the track. Then I can start to work on the front bridge. Like a bridge over troubled waters, looks great Paul, adds even more to a wonderful scene.

Gary, nicely done...kind of looks like the seats for that car are close to being ‘sold out’! Just like my last trip into Chicago...😉

Inspiring work, Gary. I will be doing the same thing soon and will follow your lead!

A lot has transpired in the month of March (after a terrible February, when nothing worked).

  1. I re-wired absolutely everything and added a Z4000.
  2. I used the OGR wiring sold by @MrMuffin'sTrains - thank you!
  3. Barry Broskowitz, RIP, was right - wiring is critical.
  4. Got a new WIU and a new TIU (and threw the old stuff out!)
  5. Wired my Lionel swing set and an animated billboard. Gotta figure out how not to feature San Francisco and New York, however.
  6. Added a little critter (thanks to @Arnold D. Cribari for the idea!)
  7. Hacked my MTH Airport Radar station with a little 12V motor. Now, it rotates like it should!
  8. I am going to do the same thing to the Lionel Windmill - I am on my second windmill and even it makes way too much racket and rotates only when it wants to.

Sadly, train season here in Laramie is about over. With the weather warming I have to start mowing lawns.

Here is a YouTube video update: https://youtu.be/rvsfkEEm_4c

Thanks for watching! Thanks as well to @trainroomgary and @kens trains for an early look at YouTube to ensure it worked right! And a special shout-out to Caleb's Trains @cws455 in this video.

Mike. There’s nothing like owning you own layout it’s looking fantastic.

John. Thanks I’ve bought some “sitting Ladies” pre panted but I plan on repainting them because I knew you would. I plan on putting them in my  convertible cars.

Paul your gaining every day to the completion

Gary. Good luck with the seating of you car

Lee Drennen, Nice looking milk cars! I read you're back dating your layout to Spring of 1942 ...

I hadnt seen that before.

Two Lees on this forum, both modelling the WW2 years. Talk about coincidence!

Yes I ‘ve always had the passion for prewar I’ve tried this in HO and never got the results I wanted. I always said when I get a steamer I’m going to the early 1940s. When I get the layout started in the house I will turn this one back to the mid 1960s.

When I put Woodland Scenics instant water in the scratch built water tower at Hunter, TN, the tower accidentally got rocked back, and the water sloshed to the back of the tank, leaving the water vertically along the back wall of the interior of the tank.

It never looked right, and I always wondered what I could do with it. Today, it occurred to me I could smear some white glue along those areas, and placed ground foam in there to make it look like growth from the water. It still isn't perfect, but it looks better than it did.

Nice idea!

Got a tad more done this afternoon. Cut the cork for the front bridge and I am waiting for the paint to dry so I can put it in place. Tracks are in on the back bridge. When I get the front track put in I'll go back and screw them all down. That leaves making up the plank roadway for the coal trucks to go through the bridge on. Pic...........Paul

Wow!  The work keeps progressing for everyone.

It was a sunny day and Mom wanted to get out of the house.  She is tired of watching me paint the seated figures. Watching paint dry is what she calls it.

I returned my CSX F40PH #9999 to Lionel by FEDEX. There is nothing Lionel can do about the damaged body shell.  They will issue a refund for this engine too. I have to send the B&O GP9 #3419 for service. Some OGR Forum members felt the wheels may not be fully pressed on the axle, so does Lionel.

While at FEDEX, we headed to Berea Station just in time to catch an east bound BNSF tank train. While it was passing, an east bound Norfolk Southern pulled trailers and containers.  Timing is everything, but dumb luck is also good too.

Sincerely, John Rowlen

Nice shots John. Looks like Mom is enjoying herself.

Johan- I'm speechless- beautiful scene.

Paul- Looking good. The finish line is in sight.

Dr. Joe- yea, just when I get going, Spring arrives and everything outside needs attention.

I had a good day. One of my managers is moving and came across his old 681 scout set that he doesn't want anymore. Still in the original box too.

The big score was what he found in his In-laws house as they were cleaning it out.

2019-03-25 17.16.09

The vestibules and original transformer are in the bag. Plus another tub full of track.

Very nice haul, Bob... now you’re really going to have to expand

Bob, good things come to good people.

Lee, first I have to find a mess of older dump trucks.

Johan, I already have said great scene but  I looked at it again and you have made the scene look very deep.......good perspective.

Called it quits for tonight but I got the cork and track down on the front bridge. Tomorrow morning I 'll get dow there and screw down all the track. Pics...............Paul

Evening all, I hope you all had a great day! It sure looks like a lot of you have been busy today! So lets get things started! LOL

Andy, when I get to that point I will give your idea a try and see if anyone is interested! I also have to learn a lot about op sessions!

Gary, 1 car is better then none, plus if you think about it 1 car down and only 3 more to go! From where I am sitting I thing it turned out looking great!

Paul 2, That there sir is looking just great! Both bridges in and track, you are moving like a man on a mission! I bet you are happy to be getting back to train stuff! LOL LOOKS GREAT!

Dr. Joe, Nice work ! I really enjoyed your layout video and joined your page! What a great looking layout you have!

Lee D. Thanks, it means a lot to me when forum members like what I am doing. Also its because of the forum members that I am where I am today! So thank you again!

Johan, there is not much I can say that others haven't already said, but I just want to say wonderful work and a great project!

John R. I am sorry for all the problems you have been having with your engines! I hope they can get your GP9 fixed and back to you in a short period! Great pictures of the BNSF tank train, first time I have seen a CSX engine behind a BNSF engine. Also thanks for sharing the wonderful picture of your mom! Looks like you both had a fun day! Oh by the way there is a video at the bottom for you!

Bob, all I can say is great score!

ED, the harbor looks perfect, and it is nice to see you had some young helpers there! They did a wonderful job!

So today I spent a fair amount of time prewiring most of my switches! Trying to figure where I can use tortis switch machines and where I have to use stock. I think I have it figured out, with only 2 more wire groups to run, I feel good about todays work. I also shot a little video of my lift bridge in action for John R. so sit back and enjoy!
