Didn't work on my layout but I did work on a Christmas tree o27 layout on a 4ftx4ft board for a sweet little old lady from church.  She wanted something to run her deceased husband's old Lionel trains on under the tree.  Should brighten her Christmas.  I know it has brightened mine just building it.  Will finish it tomorrow and deliver it and set it up for her.  Pay it forward.

Chris S.

About three hours of (mostly) pleasant work assembling this Chinese Lego knock-off of an L gauge train. Because the "steam" locomotive on my Disney train doesn't work well, I took a chance on it.

Poorly-fitting parts, two missing pieces, mistakes in the instructions, AND IT WORKS GREAT!  Then I kit-bashed it into a Disney locomotive, and there we go!

After Thanksgiving dinner I installed one of Gunrunner John's #15010 YLB Rechargeable Batteries in my Lionel 1931800 New York Central Hudson #5416 from Pat's Trains.  The engine's tender had no difficulty with sound drop out on my outer mainline, but I wanted to put the battery in the tender to help the sound system over my double cross-over and other gaps in the center rail.  The YLB is available from Henning's Trains website, under heading "Electrical".

Sincerely, John Rowlen

Put some switches in place to go from outside to middle to inside tracks and back again. Trying to get that done, then I will start on the rest of the layout.

I might even do a 4th loop with just two switches to get me there and then have to back out to get back to the main three. Not sure yet. Thinking of putting my transfer table at the far right of my layout, and then maybe a turntable on the 8' x 8' addition that will come in time.

last night after a long day of good eating...   and a short turkey nap

Marci wanted to get out some of her Dad's trains...

we also checked out this cardboard bridge

that we just got,  pretty cool...  thanks Alfred !!

filling them up...      &  putting the tree up tonight

I finally  finished up the repaint of the ACL tender. It appears that there was a difference in heights between the trucks as I masked the stripe along the foot board of the tender on the repainted one which is where it starts on the factory paint job. At least it matches the white stripe on the loco walkway  even if it misses the cab stripe. I want to shoot a coat of dull clear on it after I ease some gray paint into a couple of spots. I may add the ACL trim to the steam boxes after lunch. I have to narrow them down a little to make them fit. And after that perhaps replace the track on the living room floor with a passing siding so I can put up the tree and run the trains again.

I unpacked the Williams AA F7s and found that they were way too nice to try to improve. Two tiny, tiny chips on the fairing around the fuel tank on the dummy unit that I daubed  spots of Pennsy Tuscan Red on and it's near mint again. The powered unit had a faint mar on one side that almost isn't, so I got a real buy on them even if they aren't striped. ($83 plus postage.)IMG_8361IMG_8362

Last night when we got home I glued down the ground turf and this morning it was dry. I took the scene and placed it on the table. Found out that during the building of the scene the bottom plywood warped a bit. I assume it was from the plaster drying. I drilled three holes at the front of the scene and put three screws in across the front which took care of the warp. This afternoon I will be going up to help set for the Parma TCA show tomorrow but I'll be bringing the module along too. I still have a lot to do to the scene. Adding trees, evergreens, bushes, ground turf and the waterfall along with water. I should be able to get that done before the next time we set up. Pics........Paul 2

Well on the Waxhaw Divusion, I managed to set, level and align the second bridge on the upper level brabch line. In this town Area, the station building, the woodland scemics model serves as the depot on this track.

Have the track aligned and roadbed in place. Tommorrow  I will screw down the tracks in this area and think abou, maybe actually run power leads to this area.

Nice looking bridge!! Who is it made it and what part number is it??

Yes it is a nice bridge It is well detailed both above and below. The Bridge is by MTH Railking. It is their cat no. 40-1031. They call it a steel arch bridge. It is about 30 inches long and comes with 3 support piers. One of the piers has a circuit board to accept a connection from a lamp on the bridge which I think is supposed to flash. That pier has a pair of wires to make an electrical connection. I bought this at a train show in Charlotte NC about 8 years ago. It was missing a support pier.

The MTH RTR catalog seems to show this bridge and there have been several cat numbers over the years. I suspect the difference is in the colors, whether or not the third support pier is in the package and whether it has the flashing light.

LIRR Steamer,

If you don't mind, could you please tell me the dimensions of the arch span from the base to the top of the highest point of the arch?  This is just for the span itself, not the piers.  I need to confirm whether it could fit on my ceiling layout.

Thanks.

Brian, its nice to see you and Marci breaking out her fathers old trains set! Sure is a nice bonding project!

Chris A, Your son did a great job videoing your wonderful layout! Sure shows the skill you have and the great layout that you have built!

Paul 2, Your module is looking amazing and should be a hit at the show! I agree with Mark that you have done a wonderful job in such a shot time!

Bryan, The same goes for you, I really like the walls for your raised section and the bridge looks perfect!

I know I missed a lot of people in my comments, but I don't want to get in trouble for chit chat and get this thread closed as it is one of the best threads on this forum for folks like me to learn from!

I didn't get anything done for the last 5 days due to being at the store and getting things around here ready for the kids and grandkids! They will be here for the next 3 day so I doubt I will get any train room time, but if I do I will post it. I did get 10 bags of ballast from Dennis Brennen so maybe I will get a little of that down.

I hope you all have a great weekend and have fun with whatever you do!

Remember guys....this thread should be concentrating on "what you have done on your layout today"....  If you have running problems, issues with your trains, and general chit chat, this is not the place.  Start a new thread for those kinds of things in the appropriate category.  The mods are getting too many alerts to the bumping of this thread with tons of "comments" rather than updates on what you have done on your layout...  This is a great thread but it can't be a free for all that bumps every other topic....

Hi Guys, well I got out to the train room before the kids and Grandkids got here. I know I am jumping around on my layout but I have to find small projects to do while I have free time. So this morning I went out and decided to pour some concrete floors in my Engine Service House. Here are a couple of pictures to prove to Lew I really did it! Brian and Paul, your work is just wonderful! But whoever had the corner table is lacking a little!

Cleaned some track and ran another PanAm / Pullman passenger consist.

Today, a couple of new pieces of equipment.  One is a scale car, picked up at the Shriner show in Wilmington MA,  that I converted to a track cleaner.  Works really nice on tighter radii track.

The other is the Kline Heavyweight Pullman, Night Train, that I received from a Forum member (thank you Sam).6A4F2DC2-1DDE-429F-A47F-0AD12FDCB81BB045F065-2DAF-4735-B6CF-97F133F5DC4CC37D7F27-943E-495D-88E5-B66E83C547B582D52A64-5648-453D-BD68-721A3EC01801_1_201_a7D0E02BB-C71D-4988-B8FB-D12151C23083

On a sad note, Last Sunday I lost my little sidekick, Gracie to a heart attack.  She was 1 month shy of her 14th b'day.  She was a great dog who would do anything that I asked.
