What did you do on your layout today?

I added in some LEDs to my father's old Lionel Dispatch Station, the speaker etc don't work anymore but I wanted the lights to show off the silhouettes in the windows.  Next step is to wire it into the layout.

Dave, that is one sweet looking dealership! I really like how things are coming together and nice to see I am not the only one who works on there layout before the sun comes up!

Thanks Bob, I liked how it was going also but I went out and did a few more test runs and found out that fishing line might not be the answer and I really didn't like how the motor was turning. So its back to the drawing board on old Printer motors. I have some honey do's to take care of and then back at it. If I come up with something better today I will post it later!

Well guys, you know I have been working on the airplane take off thingy. Well I spent another good amount of time working on it this morning and was able to get the motor hooked up and just did a test run. I am just happy it is working like I wanted, just needs a little tweaking. Here is a short video of the first test run.

I got started at 4:30 AM got my second coat of paint on the lot. I decided this space will be a car dealership that I had on a previous  layout. I added guard rails behind it where it backs up to the tracks. My wife made the sign for me this morning. I'm waiting on some Realtrax grade crossings to cut down for the ramps into the lot.

Where did all the Mopar cars come from .?.......that is quite the variety.  The building and the sign are especially good looking .

If you and your wife keep this pace up .......you're not going to have anything to do on this layout during the winter..  😕

Thanks, I bought them where ever I could a few years ago. I have at least a dozen extra. I'll go through them and get a nice smatering of colors that looks best. I'll be heading down now for todays prodject.

Well, Mike G. has been in my head all week about the pig fence. Last night I raided my wife's craft room and found some tulle ribbon, and the fence was created! The barn is almost done and ready for wiring.

Nice slop pen the fence came out great.

Today I put in a frontage road, MOW signal department, switch tower and scenery.

@mike g.- the fishing line stretches when the spool picks up the weight. Try adding some weight to the carrier and get a little more tension on the line. Another idea is to add a idler pulley with a spring to keep tension on the line.

@Dave Ripp.- I plan to steal some of your ideas on your MOW yard and shanty (full disclosure)

@ArtsModelTrains- nice work on your Dad's tower. The colors are still nice and bright after all these years.

@CR Cole- looks like a happy bunch of pigs there.

Nice work everyone. I've been otherwise detained and haven't done anything on the layout lately. I hope to get my new Santa Fe F3's serviced and on the rails later today. My power problem on my upper loop still needs to be solved as well before I get back to scenery work.

I did similar with the lighting, but added an updated  sound system - see it here. Overall very happy with the look and sound.

Feel free Bob. I got the idea from BNSF. This ones near me I just made mine geared tword my 1971 era.

Dallas, I know.  It is downright disturbing!  If I don't do this, everything ends up where your red handled snips are.    I have things that I can't find that I remember where they were in the old house, but not here.  We've been in this house for over 10 years now.    Thank you very much!!

CR Cole, The pig pen is looking great!

Dave, the MOW area looks great!  It's not too messy.  I like a supervisor who makes his employees keep things neat and orderly so everyone can find them.  Oh that goes back to my comment to Dallas Joseph's comment! 

   I grew another birch tree for the other side of the river and threw in a couple of other photos as well.

Fastfreight, that is some sensational work. I also liked the weathering on the Milwaukee bridge.
