...........and the saga of the Boyce Nuclear Substation continues. 😨........😉

How did you know I worked briefly in two nuclear power stations?  Was it the glow emanating from everything I write!    I spent more time in those filthy coal fired stations and high voltage substations.  If that wasn't enough from my 40s on, then all that RF from working at the telecom company.  Oh, did I mention climbing microwave towers to change light bulbs when in my 20s.  I might have gotten in front of a dish or two.

Nice start to the playground, Dave.  At our rural school, we didn't have much playground equipment, but there were some neat trails through the woods we used to run through.  You couldn't get away with any of that now.  Where were you in '62??

Thanks Mark, Born in 63 but share a wedding aniversery with you. 12-7-91 a day that will live in infamy.

Your Mrs. looks good natured about it as does mine.  '56 and '84 were my years.

I want to say thanks to mike g. who put me onto where to get the Remote Commander so I can install GRJ's other Watchdog Generator into it and plug onto my other TIU output.  It is now on it's way.  One other thing, I need to backup all my information onto another remote.  I actually have two spare remotes now.  I also see you can backup onto a computer.  I'll have to look into that too.

@Randy Harrison, I am glad things are moving forward for you, next Sunday please take a photo of your layout so we can see what your working on!

@Dave Ripp., Nice looking work and your playground is really looking very nice! It gives me some ideas for some scratch built items!

Well guys I went out today and tried the other motor I had with different gears and I am sad to say for my liking it is just to fast for the aircraft I plan on using on the runway! Took me awhile to get everything back together as the pully system kept sticking and I worked on it for a good couple hours. Come to find out it was because I has a piece of wood under an unsupported section of the plexi glass so it was causing the gap to close. When I found it and removed it now everything works great!

I hope you all had a great day and fun with your layouts!

@third rail  nice job on the sea wall. Love to see photos of the finished product. You might want to inspect the girder bridge - the photo shows a huge crack through a section. Would not want an expensive engine taking a plunge when the girder fails.  (I assume this is something on the photo.)

The bridge is a roadway and not a railroad bridge.  I'll be looking into finding some Lionel girder bridges to rebuild it.

Well so far..... my "accomplishment" is that I drank coffee.     But I have a plan that's formulating: I have a Lionel Oil Drum Loader  at the end of a spur configured with sounds that I currently have triggered with a reflective IR such that the loading sequence will start when car parks beside the loader.  That's been working fine, except that I'm finding myself using that spur for some freight consist maneuvers and I don't want to trigger the loader when another car parks there temporarily.  So I thought perhaps put a reed switch under the track and a magnet on my gondola with the oil drums. The accessory will trigger only when a designated car with a small magnet is parked there.....   it's either that or wire it up to an ASC2 for cab2 activation.

Mark- my daughter flew to Indianapolis last week from LaGuardia. They had a problem with the plane and the pilot literally says, we need to ctrl/alt/dlt the system to reboot it.

Can't make this sh.. up! 😂😂😂

Happens more than you’d think… usually pushes those who don’t like flying near their breaking point.  It gets VERY quiet once we’ve powered down for a minute or two.

Hi Guys, Not alot today but I did get the airfield installed on the layout. I still I have to wire it in and am still waiting on the model plane I ordered! Here is what it looks like with no lights and no scenery around it. Enjoy! LOL

I still have to build a runoff area at the end to cover the motor, but that will wait till I have it all wired up!

I hope your all having a great week! Most of all I hope your finding time for your layout and fun with your trains!

Cool air strip.  Very crisp.

I made a diorama for the local NMRA train club model contest today.  Posted about it under a Paper Model Truck heading, so people could find relevant info there if they were ever interested!  (See link at bottom of this reply)  Here's a teaser pic:

Outstanding, Mike...the layout is really coming along!  You've got the makings of a real nice transportation hub right there,,,

@mike g., I stopped by this thread today for this first time in a while hoping to see an update on your layout. Luckily it was the first post I saw! Looking great and the air-strip element is going to make an awesome scene. Glad to see you are cranking along!

Now I gotta get caught up on all the other layouts on here. You all have some serious talent. Way better than anything I can create!

I was out shopping today and I see frozen turkey's in the stores in abundance. Good grief, it's only one month until Thanksgiving, and just two months to Xmas! The Holidays will be here before you know it. After Christmas 2020 I removed my Lemax carousel, Xmas toy store, and Nutcracker Suite from my layout to install the barn and farm, "We Take Your Steak" alien spacecraft, Ethyl's gas station and Molly's Dinner, I have no where to put them on my layout now. Fortunately there is a space on the left end of the layout for the Lemax structures, but it has to be temporary as the space is part of the house. Normally there are plants in this spot, so I moved them to a different location for now. He's some photos of just getting started. I have a lot of diorama to do around the Lemax structures.

I cut a piece of 3/8 plywood to fit. The plywood will not be permanently attached, and I left about an inch behind the plywood and the wall to run power cables.

I used the vinyl grass to cover the plywood because I really wasn't in the mood to paint it. At least I won't have to use ground cover! I'll have to find another home for the book store.

I put some bushes on top of the stone wall and placed the Lemax stuff approximately where they will go. I have some cobblestone mat that I will put on the front edge as a walkway. I'll add some trees, bushes and assorted plants to spruce it up. I need a snowy mountain background for it too, but haven't found what I looking for yet.

More to come.

Scott

@ Mike g.
I love watching you create as you go Mike. You have a wonderful imagination, the ability to make it happen.
I had 50 posts from OGR early this morning. Oh what a wonderful way to wake up!

Friend Jim will be hooking up my new generator to my breaker box Thursday morning.  Carol says the almanac an woolly worms warning us about a bad winter. The ice storm of 2021 stopped the DJ&C in its tracks with no power from the thick ice.

Carol says, now that  we are prepared, the ice won’t come this year😚

Carol may prove to be a prophet.    At our previous house, our power went out almost every storm.  We finally did what you are having done, bought a generator, and paid a registered electrician to connect it to the breaker box with a manual switchover switch.  We only put it on circuits like the furnace, refrigerator, the vitals.  The Blackwater Canyon Line predecessor would have still bean off line.  We never had even the shortest outage for the rest of the time we lived there.  I think the power company did something, trimmed trees, upgraded equipment, or something.  We left the generator for the buyer, so I don't know if they ever really needed to put it to use.

Morning guys, thank you all for the nice comments!

@Dallas Joseph, I know what you mean, my lean mean went a long time ago! I installed the airfield on hinges  so if needed I can just pull a couple screws and it swings down and can be pinned in place under the layout.

@Hannibal-St Joseph RR, Great looking diorama, Very cool what you can do with paper, a printer and some card stock!

@Chris1985, Thank you sir, but don't cut yourself short! I have seen photos & videos of your OUTSTANDING layout and that is why I asked you if I could use your track plan! Thanks again!

@WesternPacific2217, Wonderful to see you making room for the holidays! Sure is alot of work for a short period of time, but it sure warms the heart seeing it!

Well guys I plan on trying to get it wired in today and maybe some rough in for around the far end for a helipad ! Not sure what will get done as I have to run to town this morning!

I hope you all have a great day and fun with your layouts and trains!

CTRT/ALT/DEL= Happy railroading......

Next to Lake George, NY, Lancaster county is my next favorite spot..... Now I need to convince/ persuade the CEO that going to a train show with a bunch of train obsessed guys is FUN!

Anytime your up in Lake George, let me know; i'm only 55miles from there and then only 5 to the NYS Thruway. Visitors always welcome.

A little more smoothing and painting. Also got my playground equiptment for the park. I've gotta go through my stuff and find a picnic table, garbage can, benches and add a tree or 2.

I combined the WS backyard BBQ set with a couple of Tuscan picnic tables from a seller on the bay and some figures to create this scene. Not sure where the trash barrel at the bottom of the picture came from, though.

You kind of aircraft will you have sitting on the runway idling?

That's a very naughty doggie!!! Where's the master burger flipper to smack the dog on the nose with the spatula?! I like the pond and the ducks, nice touch!

Hi guys, well I was able to get put to the train room today and I worked on the taxi way and helipad, painting both black. Then while that was drying I worked on a special project for that area, but am going to wait till I get it all done to share with the rest of you. I then put a second coat of paint on my landing pad and taxiway.

I thought I would start on the Piper airplane, I dont think its going to be the right size for my run way even though it is 1/48 scale. Below are a couple photos. Also I put a photo in for Dallas Joseph so he could see the runway in it's lower state.
