Hello everyone,  The layouts are looking good.  Thank you for sharing.

I am painting as I stay warm and care for my 92 year-old mother.  The next three days will be very cold.  I am delaying shipping a return H-10 Coal Hauler engine with paint issues to avoid the freezing temperatures as it sits in the truck for return delivery.  I will run the new H-10 engine tomorrow morning.

Made progress on 24 more Preiser 65602 people.  This box is mostly in blue clothes.  The next 24 will be mostly green, then 24 pink, then 24 yellow, and finally 24 lavender.  I am tiring of painting, but the paints are fresh and I do not want to waste them.

Stay warm.  Watch out for pets.  Remember to drip water from pipes that could freeze.

Happy Polar Vortex!

John Rowlen

Another project we got further along was the gas station. Another modeling friend of mine put the Micro Scale Models kit together. Since I like Mobil gas and the Pegasus the model was done up that way. The gas pump globes all light, and a complete interior also added. Lights shine on the Pegasus, and all lights outside work as well. Next part of the project will be to connect all the lighting, now that it is set in place. Then added scenic details etc. I might add that the garage business is called "Tom's Garage" in memory of my good friend who died years before his model was built by his son!!

Andy and John McCormick, The trains running on your layouts are great!  I couldn't help notice the similarities in paint color between the Hiawatha and the SP.  Very nice!

John Rowlen, The people have such personalities just with the poses and the choice of color.  Keep up the good work, and take good care of your mother.

Jeff, The roundhouse addition looks great!  I'm glad your railroad is expanding locomotive storage!

Paul, I know what you mean as the room looks so bare.  My wife will fill it up soon enough, with the lightweight puzzle table and some sewing things.  Who knows what else.  I'm glad to give her the space.  I don't mind the cool family room, but she isn't as active as me.

My last big project for the week of vacation was the connections to my two toy Wilesco engines so they operated. I am running them on compressed air and they work wonderfully. I bought a small air brush compressor, that is so quiet, and so well made, with an air tank. I then piped the compressor to a valve, which lead to a manifold to independently supply air to each engine. All tubing is aquarium air hose, and the engines are run on 5 PSI. Last thing to be installed is a proposed Wilesco steam whistle, ( should arrive this week sometime), which will be used as a "shift" whistle for the little men! I love it when a plan comes together!

Mike you are rolling right along also!!!   Looks like you have been stashing stuff for a while!  I too need to go through some boxes and get rid of some stuff.  I bought my neighbors collection a couple years ago.   All brand new in their boxes.  I'd assume there is a bunch of modern stuff in there.  Haven't looked at them in a year or two.

Last night I got off of work and got right to bringing in firewood for our impending snow storm, that didnt happen until this morning.   2 or 3 inches.    So after bringing  up a bunch of wood we did the hour and forty five minute round trip to the LHS.   Which just happened to be out of the 30 inch fastrack that I went to get!  UGGGGGG !!!!!  Was there three weeks ago and they had over 100 pieces.  Reckon I'll have to order them from Legacy in Atlanta.

Got the last 14.5 x 48 inch filler framed and installed.   Got ready to cut the very last piece of plywood.  Drew it out and the wife said it was too late lol    So I will do that tonight..

Jim, its funny what you buy when planning a layout and once you have the bench work done it becomes amazing what you don't have room for! Most of the stuff I have is plasticville buildings already put together that I will probably let go at best offer!

Good luck with the snow, just dry and a little chilly here right now at 36 above zero! LOL

Picked up my double track bridge from Menards. While I was there I decided to pick a 1'X12'X4' piece of wood. Was going to use this across the front of the new table for the facia and cut it for the gorge but then I decided to get two 1'X8"X4'. Gluinf them together I will end up with a deeper front piece for cutting the gorge out of. Heading to the basement to start working on the is. Pics.............Paul

Cool bridge!  Take some good pictures of it!    One thing they did have out at the LHS last night was... another Lionel bridge!   OOOOH it was calling me!    How is your demolition doing?

Jim

I got all the scrap lumber off the floor and piked against the remaining shelf. Took some white primer paint and painted a couple of bare spots on the wall in the old half bath and while I had the paint out I decided to paint the old shower stall. AFter that I got my two pieces of wood glued together. They can set all night. Pics...........Paul

Great work Paul!  With the Attic layout complete and now that you are closing in on the basement space, I can't wait to see what your layout plans are for the main floor!   Your CEO is very understanding.   You are truly a lucky guy!!!

Cheers,  Dave

Larry, I can get used to doing work in my garage, but I'm glad I don't have to have a layout in there.  You are a hardy soul!

Mark, I was in my garage again this afternoon.  It was warm enough,  due to the sun being out , that I didn’t have to fire up the pellet stove.  I soldered the diodes in the rest of my Fastrack lighted bumpers.  One less project to do.  The LEDs should be less prone to failure now.

With temps heading way south of zero I spent the day in the basement . 99% settled on my track plan. Here are a few pics of our maintenance area.  The open areas in front of the shed will be filled in. I also was setting up some temp block walls for a corner area and along a basement wall. Stay warm my friends.  Nick T.
