Our modular group is the recipient of 2 prewar O gauge sets.  One freight, on passenger, each being headed by a 224, one of which is in gunmetal.

Two tinplate double crossovers and an American Flyer operating water tower was included in the donation.

One thing I cannot identify......a crossing flasher with a unique attachment to a 3 rail straight track.  I figure late 30s, early 40s.

It's not Lionel. I kind of doubt Marx.  My guess is pre war American Flyer O gauge.  Am I correct?

Hi Peter,

Yes that is pre war American Flyer O gauge. I have the American Flyer Digital Archive Catalog CD from John Holtmann Jr. and that automatic twin light crossing signal( number 2206) is listed in the 1936 and 1937 catalogs. In 1936 the cost was $1.00, In 1937 the cost was $1.50. Both years included the 10 inch piece of track.

Enjoy

Frank
