Looks like @m.mitchell.marmel has been up to some of his usual hijinks, just on a grander scale. This is an item from the collection of the Illinois Trolley Museum... it appears to be a defiled NYC Subway car (and, contrary to what Mitch thinks, that is a Redbird, NOT razorback red). I’m told a police report was filed regarding a very suspicious character lurking around the museum, last seen in the company of two felonious felines and a miniature gi-raff. A reward of $1.98 has been offered for information leading to the apprehension of the missing miscreants.

Well, I guess it’s official, Mitch - you’re from the Twilight Zone

I remember riding in these cars in my younger days (using standard 3rd rail shoes, NOT trolley poles)... the conductor had to stand spanning two cars to operate the doors. You can just make out the foot ledges below the clear headlights. And just to the left of the front window is one of the hand holds - the conductor had to press the plunger at the top of the hand hold to open/close the doors. On rainy or snowy days, I’m sure this was a miserable job on lines that were above ground!!!

I've been looking at 3 rail track so long, that when I go over a grade crossing, I think it looks unrealistic....

Peter, it is ironically funny that you would actually say that.  Have never admitted it but have had the same reaction going over a grade crossing and/or looking down on to rails from a bridge.  Many times the ties have a stain pretty much running down the middle which makes it look/feel more comforting.
