She wont have snowplows, NS's GP38's didnt have them for the most part.  Make it very hard to get in to couple air hoses! When we would get a GP50 high hood at the Ft Wayne GM plant, we would run in to New Haven yard and swap it for a GP38-2 as soon as we could.  The GP50's have those big plows and your shoulder would find the top of it when you leaned up from coupling the air line up.  I will pickup those Kaydee's next time I am at the shop in Indy.  Thanks  Mike

I put a standard Kadee on my GP-35s.    But I did not use a box, I just used the coupler non-centering.

I filed off the bottom nub used for centering and then I filled the slot in the shank with a piece of styrene.   I seem to remember 1/8 x 1/8 worked.   then I fitted the coupler into the exisiting draft gear box on the loco and marked the styrene where I wanted to drill a hole.    I drilled a small hole in the styrene and used an appropriate screw to hold it in the box.

I may have had to file the top and bottom of the shank a little too.

I don't like carving up the nice brass pilots and draft gear to fit in Kadee boxes on older models.
