When I visited their shop back in April, I was informed that Spring 2018 was the earliest time it could be ready. R&N shopmen spend the spring/summer working on #425 so it can do its summer holiday stints on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic, and the trips it does in Sept./Oct. After 425 is done with its schedule, the shop will concentrate on 2102.

I will agree that at this point, 2102 is a safer bet than 1309.
The R&N is one of the best shows in the east, 425 has 2 big weekends coming up in October, including 1 trip without diesels.

Riding the LGSR a few weeks ago, the train crew informed us that they were hoping for next fall but that depends on Andy's checkbook and other priorities, including the 425. It was mentioned there is a handful of guys working on the steam engine and I believe they also had other "regular" jobs on the railroad.

The 425 is one heck of an engine. Worth the trip and puts on one hell of a show. I was in awe watching a deafening Jim Thorpe departure that weekend. If the 425 can do that, I can only imagine what the T1 will do.

LGSRy is effectively the passenger department of the RBMN.

That is not correct.

LGSR just sells the trips out of Jim Thorpe.

All other passenger trips are handled by the R&N passenger office in the Schuylkill Haven depot. If you wish to ride behind the RDCs or 425, this is who you deal with.
Check the R&N website if you don't believe me.
