Will you be hunting a certain steam engine or diesel. Maybe both. What about a new building or two. At the right price you may grab three or more. Freight cars by MTH, Atlas or Lionel. Passenger cars in sets of four, five, six or more. What about that rare American Flyer freight car that has eluded you for years. Maybe a couple of good funnel cakes from one of the food vendors. Whatever you are looking for, I hope you find it.

There are a few things I'm hunting:

- one of the new Lionel Hobo sound cars in Erie livery

- a built single stall engine house with some interior details

- Scenic Express flex-rock, stone retaining walls and trees (really missing them not being at York)

- A Vision Line Big Boy for a fellow forum member who can't make the trip

Of course, I always seem to find something I wasn't expecting to find but even if I come home with no purchases it will still be a successful trip getting to see everyone again.

Don't spend too much time looking for one of those. I have the Rock Island one on order and my LHS hasn't notified me it has come in yet and, according to Lionel's shipping schedule, it's not due in until July.

Haven't put together a formal list but if I found a circle of Atlas O-72 track I'd be happy. Also looking to talk to someone about upgrading a Weaver GP38-2 that has no sound or command control. Thought about trying to find another Weaver GP38-2 that does have sound and TMCC and swapping the shell, but then I still have a conventional, no-sound engine left over. Other thoughts are buying a couple of store/building fronts to place along the wall of our layout (when it gets built). Don't have any today but after seeing lots of videos on the forum some of those are great looking and tremendous space saver. If not that, always could add another coal hopper or steel sided reefer in eastern PA or New England road name. Great fun looking around.

Sheesh - I just saw one listed in a print add in the latest issue of CTT.   Thanks for the heads up!

I can only make part of the day on Friday, and may spend most of my time in the Orange Hall.

-My holy grail: MTH PRR A5 20-3598-1, the PS3 version.

-Close second holy grail: Atlas O REA Troop Express Car, U21401LD (not warped).

-Items if I see them at a good price:

  --Lionel MoW Bunk Car(s), 19-26181/2/3

--MTH Armour 40' steel reefer in 1948 scheme, 20-94448

--Atlas O (or Weaver) B&O Wagontop Boxcar(s), any without large B&O on side.

I have a list of about 10 other specific cars I may, or may not, buy.  Depends on if I find the above.

If I buy anything, it will be only from those 15 items on my list.   No impulse buys, no matter how shiny or seductive it is

This is a great topic. I actually laughed when I read it. So the saying goes if you can’t find it at York you’re not going to find it. Well about 10 years ago I went as I have every year, twice a year since 1999. I had a list of 15 items.I remember the number well. I might add that none of them were rare or unusual, just run of the mill items.I was there on Friday from opening to closing and at the end of the day I found absolutely nothing on the list. Not one! 😂. I did buy things but not what I went to find. York is always a great time, unfortunately I won’t be there next week. Working on going in the fall. So have a great time and remember  as the Stones once sang You Can’t Always Get What You Want!

I'm fortunate to have six or seven guys from my train club who are regulars and I'll give them my modest shopping list:

1.  Blunt end 15" streamliner observation car or shell like MTH Seaboard to repaint

2.  Any Lionel 15" painted smooth sided offset vista dome passenger car or shell to repaint.

And a few other items to be decided.

Jimmy,

Your post brought me back to the good 'ol days... it's a Sunday night... the phone rings... it's Jimmy!  He has the cars I asked about... I order 3... he says, "are you sure you don't need a few more?"

That was a while back!  Now we go to York, but I'm not really looking for anything in particular!  Somehow, a few items always find a way into the van for the ride home!

If YOU're going, I'd like to meet you in person and say Hi!

Yes, great post idea, Jim. Already found my Atlas O-72 curves for delivery at York thanks to another forum member. Now I have to make a new list!

I have a pile of MTH Premier 36' reefers that I'm looking for, and a few other things, but I doubt I'll find them.

Last York meet I bought one item.  I traveled a total of 5 hours and I bought one item.  But I could not care less.  I had a blast!

I'm a bit disappointed that Scenic Express will once again not attend.  I was looking to purchase some items from them but to no avail.

I am picking up my first order of Glen Synder shelving!

Probably everyone in this thread found one thing on their list - a good time.  Plus maybe a little escape from their routine/environment.

This York I'm retired/laid off and I'll already be in Tennessee so the one way distance is only 800 miles instead of 1744 miles from south Texas.  But my obligations in TN may prevent me from going.

If I make it, the top items of my list will once again be the experience and the relaxation.

Although significantly smaller than in the 90's it's still the best train experience in my opinion.

Main item (s) a few rotary coal hoppers. Some odds and ends

Frank, Scenic Express has relocated to Colorado and will no longer be attending shows, looks like strictly mail order according to their receptionist/order taker Jim and staff will be missed!!!

A few years back there was a vendor in the Orange hall with a line of Arttista figures, I believe it was CORKY'S  any one have any insight if he will be there in April?

Corky's is not on any of the Orange Hall charts or lists.

I miss the days when Arttista would come to York, and I will miss Scenic Express for the same reason -- being able to look at the figures and pick out a basket-full to take home without the shipping costs.

Hi Aussteve

Yeah, I've been having bad luck or whatever with posting these past few days. I guess I'm just a neo-luddite when it comes to computers. What happened to the ones we were promised in all those science fiction stories that would be so easy to use? Ah well, York always makes me feel better. Drop by if you're coming. Take care, Art

I will be looking for visitors (and buyers) at my table in the Red Hall, B-36. My collection of Lionel Postwar accessories will be up for sale. There was a list on the For Sale forum, but it disappeared. I must have broken a rule somewhere...

Art, if I remember the ad correctly you listed what you were bringing to sell but didn't include any prices which is a no-no according to the forum guidelines.

Good luck selling at York. Hope it goes well for you.
