First, I'd like to see them hold the line on prices. Everything will depend on that.

But, for new product, how about F units - Frisco, Cotton Belt (black widow, bloody nose and daylight), a re-run of GM&O, NC&SL, more Rock Island (this time maroon w/ pin stripes and a couple of the others). And that's about it. They've already done many I really wanted and did buy - Southern, Missouri Pacific and RI in the black/red.

Oh, there are a few other minor things. I'd very much like to see Atlas stop putting rubber traction tires on dummy unpowered units. And I wish they would offer non-traction wheelsets as a separate option for purchase for powered units.

I'd also stop putting crew figures in the dummy engines. And, dummy engines that have no operational lighting need no pickups. I'd lose those too where appropriate. I'd also at the factory put on nose number boards on engines that have those. Leaving that chore to the customers results in messy applications of that part. And to any extent they have not already done so, I'd avoid connecting up or meshing the gears on dummy engines. It unnecessarily adds greatly to rolling resistance.

In more expensive changes, I'd shorten the 3R coupler stem or shank on engines so it doesn't stick out so far and is not so noticeable.

I hope they find these and the other suggestions here helpful.

When Jim Weaver was still around, he talked of the development of a second steam engine. He kind of hinted that it might be a USRA design and that it could just be a Heavy Mikado. It would be great to see them produce that engine,for a number of reasons: It was a fairly popular engine in the steam era and was used by over 20 different railroads; No one else has yet designed and built that particular engine; and finally, it would be fitting tribute to Jim for the company to continue a very special one of his projects.

The super-detail that Atlas insists on would make it a real, special model for all of us.

I just thought of a couple more things to add to the "to do" list that I posted above. I wish they'd start varying the crew chatter that you get on shut down. On EVERY engine it's that same unintelligible talk that includes "906". That just gets old when you have it on every engine. Why not re-record it with a number of different random speech sounds?

It also wouldn't hurt to try to quiet some of the engine background hum I hear in ones like my GP-35s. It may be the smoke fan, but I don't know. Perhaps that's the case with other makers too.

All in all however, I'm good with what Atlas has going on and have proven it by making them my number one toy train supplier. In fact I'm sitting here now looking at a 5 foot high stack of their engine boxes.

By and large I think they need to keep on doing what they're already doing, and they'll be fine.

You just can't get their kind of realistic detail, paint schemes and variety elsewhere.

Agreed on the steam loco
How about a 3 way yard switch or yard ladder switches.
