I recently found this Hudson at a local antique co-op for only $48 including a 663 aluminum observation car.  After a bit of cleaning and oiling it runs and smokes great.  However at some point it was relettered and renumbered and I would like to use reproduction decals to return it to it's original appearance.  It has the smoke unit in the boiler, air chime whistle and a knuckle coupler.  What would be the correct number for this version?

Thanks for any info.

I think your Hudson is a mix of parts.  It looks like it has a large motor as found in a 326. However, the cross head guides look like those found in an early 322.  326 cross head guides are L-shaped with a hanger on the rod end.  Early 322 cross head guides do not have the hanger and are open on the rod end.  Have you looked at the date stamp in the boiler shell?

That's interesting to know. I would suspect that the previous owner who relettered it would not have had any qualms with mixing parts as long as the end result looked and ran good. As long as the locomotive keeps running as good as it does I am going to leave it alone and not do any disassembly just to satisfy my  curiosity.

The antique co-op owner said that the vendor that had this locomotive was going to bring in more train stuff so I will have to keep watch for what else might show up.
