Which screwdriver set?

Actually, a model railroader, or "toy train" operator should have two screwdriver sets:

1) A JIS (Japan Industrial Standard) set for working on Chinese/Korean models, available from Granger.

2) A set from Wiha, which contain both flat blade and Philips.

Klein makes quality sets.

I like Wiha, but have switched a lot of my tools to Wera. They are the same if not better quality. I replaced my car tools with the ones from Wera also. They are made in Germany and have both inch and metric sizes.

For my model trains I use Facom (slotted), old (USA made) Craftsman (larger slotted and Phillips), and Whia (Posidriv for JIS), You will need JIS screwdrivers for anything made the other side of the International Date Line. Vessel is the best JIS screwdriver, but Whia Posidriv is a good substitute at about half the price and more more readily available years ago). You will never need the larger sizes in all these brands. Just buy the sizes you will use.

I’ve been a Wiha fan for years. I also like Moore’s Ideal Products (MIP) for my RC cars but they are not inexpensive.

Another vote for Whia. Have had several sets for years.

Reminds of the recent thread about losing tools (or thinking you lost them). That's how I ended up with plenty of their screwdrivers.

Heres mine. IME From body shell screws to tiny smoke unit screws this JIS set from Hozan seems to cover all the bases.

Add a Wihia magnetizer/demagnetizer and your good to go.
