Dear O scale narrow gauge friends. Yesterday I pulished my latest summer 2013 Version of my WP&YR Railfan Magazine. You can go to my Website at http://www.TheThunderbird.net You'll find there also a drawing of the Bennett telegraph house in O Scale.

And I'm more than happy to get in contact with other On3 White Pass friends.

Very nicely done, Boerries!  That truly is an interesting, informative, and entertaining magazine.

I have two very favorite railroads:  The Alaska RR and the White Pass & Yukon.  Interesting, I suppose since about the only time I ever spent in Alaska (to date) was at an airport years ago.

However, one day in the not-to-distant future I WILL spend a good amount of time visiting there and seeing both favorite roads.

Those shovel-nose diesels are very distinctive, and I would love to see someone come up with a model in On3/On30.

All the best to you as you continue with your fine publication!

Boerries,

I have a few rolling stock questions for you. Lionel and MTH are making a few O-gauge white pass offerings lately and I was wondering if these pieces of rolling stock were ever used by wpyr as I cannot find any info or photos showing that they ever existed. The first is by Lionel it is a ice breaker tunnel car.

And the next is a heavy duty snow plow.

Thank you for any information.

I own the tunnel car and have the plow preordered as I am a sucker for anything that says White Pass on it.

Allen - The Hurricane Gulch Train is a 'must do' train ride.  It is so much fun and the crew guys are awesome.  They bid for the job.  So the engineer is the #1 on the Alsaka RR and so Is the conductor.  They 'seem' to have their own sense of a 'rule book' and were just a joy to talk to.  Oh yeah, pretty neat scenery too!  Russ

Boerries,

I have been through your website several times. Full of great wpyr info. I checked your site first to check up on these. I think the model makers on these pieces of rolling stock are more interested at selling the name than being prototypical. I guess that's what I get for collecting white pass in o rather than on30.

I got on Facebook yesterday and found several posts from friends in Skagway  about engine 52. Engine 52 was originally engine 2 and was the first steam engine to operate on the WPYR. Engine 52 has been on static display for years out at the shops at the edge of town. But on July 4th White Pass's entry in the town parade was engine 52 on a flat bed semi looking good with a fresh coat of paint.

After the parade, engine 52 was moved to a new location right next to Rotary #1, right at the heart of town. This will make 52 a great museum piece and hopefully lead to a greater amount of care from White Pass.
