Who all is raring to go to Spring York?

We are both looking forward to the York Meet and getting a chance to catch up with all of our train friends.

Can't wait. Last October Vince surprised us by doubling his booth space at the last minute, can't wait to see what he has in store for April.

This is the most snow in NH for February in years. We have over 5ft of snow as of today and running out of a place to put it. We are so ready to get out of here as long as there is no SNOW where we are going! York in April has always been warm and we can see green grass there and the trees getting their leaves. We just wish it was April and we were on our way. Other then snow blowing and roof raking I have been running my trains and doing maintenance on them. I just hate snow now! I wish it would go away!

I will not be there but I will be at the Mad City show in Madison, WI. February 21st.

Can't wait to go!!!!!  This has been a rough winter...  Always look forward to York!

We are going to York. How is the Mady City show?  It's a 3 hour drive for us, but if it's good.....

On January 12th, I said: packed and ready........  I still am......York 63 for me! This weather has me yearning for the fresh smell of scapple and the kitchen at the Round-the-Clock Diner.

I'm looking forward to York. I may even go on Wednesday this time around. I enjoy going to the presentations at the museum. I did a presentation once for Weaver and really enjoyed that.

The wife and I were considering Allentown on Saturday, but my brother died Sunday, and the funeral is this weekend. The wife of a friend from New Jersey died, and her funeral is on Saturday. We had planned to meet at the show. Life is sure full of curve balls.

It's a 3hr drive for me and I can't wait. My friend Bill is coming with so I'll have some company on the trip. It can't get here soon enough.

Mallard4468.......trying to relocate from York to Florida.  May not happen at all or may happen in two months. So this may be my last or fall 2030 may be.  Even then I may still make the trip to get away from that God awful 80 degrees and sunny weather!

I am debating, should I stop looking for things to buy and wait till York in April?  

Like you we love passenger trains, how do you display them?  We got the Monon from Mr Muffins, and the size, maybe we have too many trains 

ME! Chomping at the bit to lay out a couple hundred locomotives, yes, a couple hundred! Spend time with all the regulars that stop by VInce's, not to mention Vince and Peg. All the great folks and stories. And maybe, just maybe, we'll have a confirmed. Trainpop sighting!

Although my train buying days are pretty much over (layouts full and I have more trains than needed) I still enjoy "walking, looking, and talking". I don't need to buy anything to have a great time at York.

Still packed and still ready........I will only be there Thursday .  I have a wedding to go to.

 

Gilly@N&W will be coming with me........we'll have dinner at Tuesday's and leave from there.

Interesting thought... although quite frankly, I think the market has changed substantially from the days when all the best "great deals" could be found at York.  Nowadays, great deals abound all year-round -- especially with the increased competition among dealers to move the glut of toy trains still in inventory.

 

Last month alone, no fewer than 4 forum sponsors had some terrific clearance sales that tempted yours truly.    Enough so that I'm not sure I can even handle a major shopping spree at York.    I still plan to go -- just have no plans to purchase anything special.  A few things here and there may call my name... but certainly no big-ticket items.  That budget is already allocated.

 

Over on another thread, someone is lamenting that a few great deals posted by a sponsor are already hear-and-gone.  So when you see a great deal, ya can't snooze.  Don't wait for York!

We have room now on our two layouts to place all of the passenger trains. Best place to put them. 

 

If I were you, I would keep on  looking on the OGR Boards for trains that you are seeking. York is a wonderful place to shop, but keep looking to cover all of your options.

Hoping to go but no guarantees. My work usually has me out of town thag week but right now I am good to go.  My modular group, the Lower Susquehanna Valley Modular Railroaders will be set up, although I don't know exactly where. I have been trying to get back to York since my Uncle took me in the mid 90's.  Last fall I got close, I was able to attend the dcs user's group meeting Wednesday night.

Regrettably, just found out this weekend that I will have to miss April York.

 

However, the reason is I am going to be heading to New Orleans for Jazz Fest the last part of April. Scored some great tickets and a free place to stay with relatives.

 

Wasn't a tough decision.

Never been to jazz fest but hope to make it one day.  My wife is from New Orleans and with her uncles and cousins being in Bacchus our annual trips are for Mardi Gras.

Nobody goes to York anymore, It's too crowded.

Had some Scrapple and Eggs at a local diner.  Primed the pump, so to speak.

 

I'm starting to get excited, though I'll probably only be there Friday.

 

I'll see everyone at the Grandstand meet (aka my lunch break lol)

I am building up the stash, I am going to meet my old buds from AGHR and have a good time.

My list is growing every day!!!!We added Wednesday this year, hoping to do the some of the off site shows.  We are also looking forward to doing the Pennsy Railroad museum on Saturday

You might want to consider this on Wednesday and do the TCA Museum presentations that day. They are very close to one another.

 

Wednesday he wants to do the bandit shows.

Hotel reservations are made, completing the final preparations for the York Meet.

 

Now lets get this crappy weather out of here and start the meet!

I recommend the open house at the train club in Red Lion on Wednesday or Thursday evening.  Nice, inspiring layout in an old depot.  Buy some raffle tickets.

I'm looking forward to seeing friends and attending the different events planned for the evenings and Friday morning.  Unfortunately, I have to be back home Friday afternoon to head out to a weekend kayak training event with my wife, so I will only attend the York meet itself on Thursday (I will head home right after the LUG meeting).  Since I'm in the building stage, I will be concentrating on the scenery venders this time.

Is it possible to get more info on this?  There is nothing about an open house on their web site.  Thanks.
