Unreal. I have close to 15 mth subway sets going back to 2004, run them regularly,  and have never had any issues with zinc pest.  I guess I’m really lucky. The worst issue I had was a light melting a roof on an early red bird model. I fortunately was able to get a new shell and have since put reflective metallic tape on the underside of all my earlier model engine roofs that don’t have the tape.  As for my R-12 sets, all are PS-2 and run outstanding with significant miles and no mechanical issues. Real workhorses able to pull the two car add ons with little problems. The only thing is the darn windows needed to be glued back on after a few years for all of them.  What a pain. Below is one of them - D1CDD6FE-E1F2-4742-BE1E-F52B25B4BBBF

Strap Hanger, do you have the LoV Green set? I'm trying to determine the station stops and line. I think one of these sets has a Yankee Stadium stop. I'd like to acquire one more Subway set before MTH folds.  I'm referring to either set 30-20395-1 or 30-20580-1.

PDX. I have both the green and the red PS-2 lo-Vs. The models you listed are the PS3 versions. My green lo-v is this one -https://mthtrains.com/30-2447-1

Do you still want me to check?  Do you know if the green ones have the same signage and stops in both ps-2 and ps-3?   I need to get back to a work related project in a bit, but if I finish early, I could take the green one out for a spin and check the station stops and the signage. If not tonight, I’ll definitely get to it in the next day or so. Let me know.

Yes. It’s the Lexington Avenue express. That’s the signage.  No yankee stadium stop.

Atlantic Avenue

Hope this helps! What great models. This thing has run flawlessly since 2005 and hhas heavy miles/chronometer.  I sure hope they really do support the subway station stop functionality after MTH is gone.  What great Subway trains.

Thank you so much. I think the LoV also has the whistle instead of a horn, is that right( toot!):-)

I love my subways. I may get desperate enough to buy some HO sets so I can get trains I don’t have. I think they also run P3 if you buy it that way. I’ll have to check to see if they would run using the DCS explorer that comes with starter sets. I’m confused how one controls HO DCS. Anyway, thanks so much for your help. Gotta order those traction tires!

Yes, a nice air whistle sound, just like the R-1s. That’s a must buy set (the R-1s) if you can get it,  just like the ones in the transit museum. The model has nicely detailed interiors with figures. The R-40s would be the next must buy set for me. They also have exquisite interior details - even individual metal hand grabs just Like in the real train.

If you’re looking for a subway, other than the Yankees set, that has a yankee stadium stop, you want the R-62. It’s a 4 train and it has it.  Same caveat - mine is a PS-2. I would think it would be the same for the ps-3, but I can’t confirm.  Good luck on your acquisitions.

Hey PDX,

You should know  that MTH's Green Lo-V with LED "Christmas" lights (which can be turned off) have a different set of station announcements from the non-Christmas version. The Christmas version models the Jerome Ave. LexEx and, yes, it includes "161st Street Yankee Stadium."  I know this because I own it! (Though I bought it because the northern terminus is my neighborhood: Woodlawn.)

TrainWorld has it in stock (MTH #30-20534-1) and the webpage includes a video that runs through all the station stops.

But be aware! MTH's non-Christmas LED, Green Lo-V has different station announcements; it models a different line.

P.S. - Forgot to add! I have run this train hard, in auto mode, for hours (5 car length including the engine) mostly trouble-free (Initially, some of the side coverings for the trucks were shorting on crossovers & switches. Two layers of liquid electrical tape put an end to that.)
