METCA (Metropolitan Division NY / NJ / CT) is hosting the first ever TCA Convention in the NYC area.

I can't get there until Saturday for the trading pits and banquet but I want to congratulate the leadership of METCA for pulling off hosting the Convention. This was an impossible dream just a few short years ago. Once again, congratulations to the leadership team at METCA.

So, who is going?

Now that I hear Erol isn't going, I'm in with both feet!!

Just kidding.  I'll be there for Friday's trading, I'm WAY looking forward to Friday night's layout tour, and then I'll stop by the trading pits on Saturday as a way of making sure I have no money left for the trip home.

I will also make a point of finding the METCA team and congratulating them for pulling this off.  I hope everyone else does too.

Guys,

Please keep in mind that the Black Diamond Society of Model Engineers in Bethlehem Pa and the Nazareth Area Society of Model Engineers in Stockertown Pa will be hosting Open Houses on June 27th and June 28th. We are offering free admission (no donation needed) to all active TCA members at both clubs. My club the BDSME will also let you in for free if you tell us your Forum name, tell the guy at the door you know me.

I am attaching flyers for both clubs.

Hope to see you at the BDSME

I will be there Thursday through Saturday.  I have tables in the trading pits.  I am looking forward to a really good time.  If you have not registered for the convention or are not a TCA member you can still get admission to the trading pits.  The several layouts in the same building can be seen for free.

I should be arriving on Sunday and plan to stay thru the next Sunday morning.

We are signed up for 4 tours, one each on Monday, Tuesday, and 2 on Thursday that includes the dinner cruise. I will have a table but don't plan to bring anything just need a table to sit by with my lovely wife who will be using the table to do her word seek books so please stop by and say hi.

I should be helping with the banquet setup on Saturday.

See you there.

Steve, my wife and I will be on the tour to your club on Friday after seeing Grand Central Terminal on Thursday (half the reason for making the convention).  We hop on the Southwest Chief 4am Monday morning at Williams Junction, AZ for a great three day, two night trip to New Jersey,

I just finalized all my travel reservations and made a discovery that might be of use to others.

I am taking Amtrak down to the area from Providence early Friday morning.  When I travel on business to NJ, I typically get out in Newark, NJ, walk across the parking lot, and rent a car at the Enterprise location across the street.

I looked this morning for Enterprise locations closer to the convention site and discovered that, if you get off at the MetroPark Amtrak station in Iselin, NJ, there is an Iselin Enterprise office that will come and pick you up at the station.  The cost of renting a car?  $32 per day.  MetroPark is ideal because it's served by Amtrak (including some Acela's) and NJ Transit.  It's also about 12 miles to the convention.

So, I'll get off the train at MetroPark, Enterprise will pick me up, and I'll be at the convention in a car that's only going to cost $32 per day.  I can work on my laptop on the entire ride down and back and not feel like I've lost all that much time from work.

I hope this helps someone else coming from outside the area,
