I think Scott’s mistake with these when he first offered the engine is he only offered it NYC and one other sub maybe?  Offer it in the others like my B&A and he would of gotten the reservations.

USHobbies did a very nice version of this loco in possibly more than one run.   It shows up at every 2-rail show and holds it price quite well.

If Scott puts one on his reservation list I will sign up. Otherwise I will just get a US Hobbies version and three rail it. I already have a donor Legacy  USRA Mikado I can use.

I will take one. I would prefer a model of the outside dry pipe version (as in the photo above). Any version would do. The original #8000, especially in original form, would get my attention.

I would prefer a Lionel version - hybrid/all die-cast/ABS! - don't care.

I would love to see one in the Lionel hybrid variety. I was one of the guys that pre-ordered the P&LE version from Sunset 10 years ago only to be disappointed when they didn't produce them.  I have the U.S. Hobbies model from the 1970's, it runs like a top and is heavy as a tank.  At one point in time, I put pick-up roller trucks on the tender and a QSI reverse unit/sound system in it and ran it on Gargraves track. Flanges and wheel tread did very well on 063 or bigger.  It has since been converted back to 2 rail scale and may be headed to the shop for P48.  That old Japanese brass sure was tough compared to the stuff made in China or Korea today.  U.S. Hobbies was the king back then in my opinion.

Good luck with that! The big issues with 3 railing a 2 rail designed steamer is the width of the wheelbases and the Pistons and steam chest that go with it. 

Simply put it more than just swapping out the thicker and wider wheels from the thinner and more scale wheels as would-be done on a diesel locomotive model.

The plan is put the brass shell on a 3 rail frame much like Lionel's hybrids. I am doing this with a K5 on an MTH Pacific frame. I already have a donor Legacy Mikado for the H10. Just looking for one at a reasonable price.

This was announced at York and I'm surprised no one has mentioned it on the forum.  So thanks to this thread and your responses Scott is going to give this project a second chance.  This engine will be made in at least NYC, B&A (early version), and P&LE (I would hope Michigan Central also).   Now it's time to put your money where your mouth is!   They need 100 reservations so lets make it happen.

I am on the fence. Yes, I would definitely like an H10 but if it’s going to cost $1400 and then I have to add another $200 for DCC and Sound that kind of puts it out of my budget. 

Yeah, Pete.  And if you don't get a good price for the 2-rail mechanism, look me up.  We did a Lobaugh Berk that way, and I think it was successful.  I got the mechanism.

I hope Scott offers a cradle of some kind to use to pick it up with...I would be busting stuff off left and right, that's a whole lotta piping going on there!!!

(hey, there's an opportunity in the making here.  a cradle/grappling hook/tongs to lift our engines w/o having to actually touch them with our hands! )

If you want to know what your H10 might look like, Scale city Design on there Ebay page has a US Hobbies H10 weathered.  A nice looking engine so check it out.

I placed my reservation on Monday for a NYC version.I hope there are 99 others who will do the same

Haven't heard any comments from you on this project.  How are the reservations going?  Yes, I know it's still early but I'm hoping.

I'd be in for a Big Four Version with the 6 axle 12 wheeled tender, as that's all I ever saw them having behind them in Louisville as a kid.....!
