Why did MTH Change Steam Cab Roof Color to Pumpkin Orange

After a visits to Steam Town and Stasburg RR, I've noticed the cab roofs being primer brown. Was that the original color or was the pumpkin orange the original color. I've always been tempted to cover over the orange with the primer brown because it looks better to me, but then I also like to stay proto typical. What is the correct color? Older MTH are primer brown while the newer models are orange.
