I get this from time to time when adding a new MTH engine.  I move the engine around on the track (I have 3 TIUs so 3 Wi-Fis) and eventually I can get it to add.  I can't explain it but at some point I also take things (engine, passenger cars, caboose) that might create some level of interference.  When I posted something similar Joe suggested a test track for me to do the engine set up on.  Can you add the engine on your hand held?  I find that adding an engine requires a bit of patience, something I often lack.

I did have an instance where an engine couldn't be added and I took it to LHS and they also confirmed it for me so back it went.

I need help if anyone can help me out.  All the lights on the Wifi device are lit but i get either "can not find TIU" or a timeout message when I try to add an engine.  I think there must be some thing I am overlooking.

Also, tried to download a new TIU file but have no idea where is is stored on the ipad.  Can anyone tell me how to find it.  It does download but I have not idea how to access it and use LUCI to insure the newest version is installed.

You should ask each question clearly. Re-read your post to make sure it's clear what you're asking about. With that in mind, here goes.

You state you downloaded the software for the TIU. You should save it to your desktop when prompted so you can easily find it.

You talk about the LUCI. You just use your remote to check your software inside each TIU. So maybe you are asking about how to check the WIFI software?

I looked over your past posts here on the forum. I couldn't help but notice that you did not directly answer people trying to help you in the past.  In each post you did state an issue you had. You just didn't seem to help us after that.

We're not here to make fun of you. To help, we need answers so we can formulate a reply that will help.

You stated that your system works with the DCS remote so that answers a lot of questions already. Just try to provide enough info and answer questions to move forward in the future.

We are not there, so we need you to do extra so we can understand what you're seeing without us being there for ourselves.

Agree with Joe.  We are trying to help you.  Working from my iPad, if I can't find the TIU then I just refresh it, slide down and it refreshes, and it will show any active engines I have on the track.  Perhaps you want to delete a different engine that you can find and see if that can be added back.  I have done that to check my sanity.  I have also done that if I have an engine on the track and seemingly it can't be found.

On the password, I believe that is a one and done type activity.

That brings up a great point. If you have a PS2 engine with a dead or very low battery for example, the system can't assign an address change to it correctly. So the next time you go to run it, the controller may not find it. The remote will wait and try to keep changing or talking with the engine I believe. The app seems to give up sooner if things aren't working. I believe that's mainly from the app being so much faster at communications.
