Width of roads for Lionel dealer layouts

It looks to me to be 1 1/2 times the width of the track. The track is about 2" wide across the ties, so the roads seem to be 3".

  By roads I meant the automotive roads not the rail beds.

I just measured the width of the roadways on my D189 to be exactly 3".

A D106 w/ fastrack, that would be cool to see! How were you going to do the upper level?

Still thinking how to do the upper level, I have all fastrack but have been seriously thinking of going tubular track especially since I want that close to true postwar feel. I originally had the outer loop with O-48 curves since I have the PWC Super O Hudson set but will be selling it cause I like the conventional classics better for the postwar look. Sometimes I wish Lionel would make the B&O set for the conventional classics or the CNJ FM passenger set or Congressional cause 1956 is my favorite for Lionel trains.  Does the stand for the milk car in the C&O set work with Lionel tubular?
