I've had my WIFI unit for awhile and finally have the time to set it up. My inclination is to get the $5 Standard Version. I'm not quite sure what are the added features of the Premium version versus the Standard. Basically I just want to duplicate what the remote does. I will not be doing lash ups, AIUs, and probably not Legacy. Does anyone have any thoughts about the benefits of Premium versus Standard for basic functions like I plan on doing?

The Premium does give you full control including AIU and being able to vary voltage on the TIU variable channels as well as all the full functonality of the remote. The good news if you spend the $5 on the standard app and then up grade to the premium they on charge you $20 more dollars.

On the remote I have to hit the Track button and turn on the two variable tracks each time I fire up the layout. Do you know if the Standard App will enable me to do this? Suppose I could do this with the remote and then run the trains with the WIFI. I have a feeling I'm probably going to enjoy this after resisting moving on from the the remote that I like so much.

Not 100% sure but you could change the variable channels to fixed and not worry about it.
I'll have to look that up in Barry's book. If I can boot up the system without the extra step of turning on each variable track each time, that saves me one step. Imagine I could always go back to variable for the infrequent running of the post war stuff. Thank you Marty for the "tip".
